Beautiful just absolutely beautiful. I’m at a place in my life where it seems everyone close to me has turned away from Jesus… I even have begun to struggle myself when my significant other tries to “prove” to me that Jesus isn’t God. It hurts. But last night I prayed for God to not only show me his love, but to help me come to him. Help me be available to him. This message couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I have spent years mad at myself and god for the countless neck surgeries I have gone thru. 4 neck surgeries in under 2 years, the pain took my soul and i succumb to depression and let myself stay there. I am almost 2 months into my seperation with my wife, even now i question everything, but the difference now is I am closer to God. And am scheduled to get baptized on Easter Sunday. Never did I ever think I would be where I am today, this seperation has made my transformation so challenging, but honestly being alone has given me a lot of time to look at all the things I have done wrong to cause my marriage to be in its current state. I pray I get a day of redemption and can prove to my wife I am worthy to be with her and never again will I succumb to the devil and his evil thoughts.

Thanks for posting this. Me and my father have both been seeking new employment the past couple months. It's hard when you see places you think you'd be happy at, but maybe the Lord is saying no. Perhaps it's a wording difference, but I've seen someone point out recently that God only told Abraham to offer Isaac, not actually sacrifice him.

Completely unrelated but I was wondering about the time Jacob wrestled with God. If you fight or wrestle with Him aren’t you going to lose since he’s omnipotent? Another question: It is said thst moses was friends with God but when he was interceding on behalf of the people but then because of moses's disobedience of striking the rock he got punished for that. A few things I wish this pastor would have talked about with this passage. 1. Give a little historical context for Gen 22. The nations around Abraham were sacrificing their children which was one of the reason God tested him in that way. Saying don’t do this it is an abomination to me (He passes judgement on nations for it). 2. Explain that Abraham was old and that Isaac could have fought him to get away but didn’t. 3. Abraham had followed God for many years and knew he could trust Him and believed in the promise God gave to him that Isaac was the child through which God promised his descendants so Abraham trusted God would somehow bring Isaac back. I am glad the pastor showed the connection between this passage and what God would do through Jesus. Over all not a bad message. I just think for someone to hear this passage for the first time with no context might give them the wrong idea of it.

There are more interperatation of this story: 1) in Hebrew culture, patricide or genocide is immoral and wrong; Abraham was WAY OVER ZEALOUS and G-D sent an angel to S T O P him from committing a mortal sin. --- . The lesson here is: God would never ask us to commit a sin like this. ****
