Thank you Pastor Craig for opening up and preaching about burnout. You described exactly what I have been living in for such a long time and never could define it. I'm just so fatigued all the time and wondered why I couldn't shake it. Changing my diet, exercising, journaling, and so many other things I would try to overcome it and it always came back. Every day. Which then lead me to giving up and becoming extremely apathetic towards everything and did what I needed to for survival. Thank you giving me a resource to share with others so that they can understand more clearly how I've been living for years now.

Such a timely message. Thanks for sharing pastor Craig. I'll be following this sermon series from Uganda. I've led 2 prayer groups for the pay 1 year and 6 months besides being a wife, mum, business woman and life group host. The first prayer group was for our pastor who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and after his passing we began a support group as ladies to support the wife. It's been very uplifting but yet I feel burnt out and like I have nothing more to offer. This message has surely been for me.

Pastor Craig you are describing to a T what I went through in August of last year..... even down to the two weeks span of not being able to remember anything. I'm grateful to say I am still here and doing better than ever. There is life after a meltdown.... what I find interesting is that if I had the choice, I would not change anything about this last year..... because it is the reason I'm living the life I am right now! One question. We are told to try to live a life like God’s. God’s life was full of hardship. He was persecuted and died on the cross. So does that mean that our lives should be filled with hardship and emotional agony too . He took all that pain so we should be able to take all the pain as well. I do not feel up to all that I have been given. I keep telling him it is too much and that i need his help. How do we hear his whisper? How do I know he is with me when I feel so alone. I ask him to bring me home to him because I am overwhelmed and burned out and do not know how to handle it all and go on. Then I feel bad about that and feel that may be yet another sin.

This is a really vulnerable question and I appreciate it! Although I can not tell you 100% what God's intent was when saying this, I can tell you to the best of my knowledge. Jesus wanted us to live a life like his, meaning, being loving, caring, God-Centered. He wanted us to be people minded, selfless, and loyal. Does this mean that we are not going to come across hardships sometimes? No, not at all. You may get made fun of sometimes for believing in Christ - that is a form of persecution. This happened to me recently. I was overwhelmed with church/town gossip, criticism, on top of my personal life. When I tried to establish boundaries that my counsellor insisted on, women in church/town (majority) have been awful. Immediately, they tried to label me as mentally ill and blame me for standing up for myself when my boundaries were disrespected. Churches need to wake up and stop putting people in charge that do not have the empathy nor compassion, respect, etc for others. When it's consistently a specific environment bringing someone down....that says a lot.

Otherwise God knew that man would burn out However, I do hear you that Christian community is needed but being disabled and in church proper for 57 years has left me disillusioned.

Amen! Thank you for sharing Pastor! If you asked me to write a sermon on the experience of burnout God allowed me to go through it would sound like this. In the midst of my burnout God brought me to the ordinary, to practice coming before Him daily and laying myself at His feet. He opened my eyes to see Elijah in a new way, to not feel shame about my burnout but has used my inability for His glory now. The pain and exhaustion has been used to show others how great His comfort is. So I can look back now and thank God for my season of burnout, cause it brought me closer to Him.

Wow, second act of burnout but 30 years later! Thank you for this info. This time, physcial issues and many triggers dealing with. Husband and I have neuro degenerative diseases that are not helping us.
