Very thorough review, thanks for sharing! The key con of this cam is the plastic mount base plate that doesn't steadily hold the cam. And the visual detection distance is a bit short because the images become blur at 30 ft even during day time. The fully battery powered is the main positive feature so that one doesn't have to drill the wall to lead AC out or using a long cord to connect to an power outlet outside.

Arlo 4K was my last attempt after Arlo Pro and Arlo Pro 2 cams, way overpriced for the quality. The app should have always been free for 7 days. I purchased a Reolink POE system and it's so much better and cost much less.

I like some of the features but as you mentioned, the plastic mounting plate could be in an issue. Living in Florida, this could be an issue with some high winds, and not to mention hurricane season. Not sure how any camera would hold up to serious hurricane winds, but this thing looks pretty front heavy, as you pointed out. Great review, keep up the great videos.

Great review again! I installed an Arlo Pro 2 system at my father house and the latency was a deal breaker for me and why I didn’t go with the same system at my house. I always choose cameras with HomeKit integration and Arlo’s was very rudimentary. Still in search of a floodlight can!

Would you want a wired floodlight or a battery? Eufy makes a floodlight camera that is wired into a junction box and they make the 2c cam that is battery operated and has a little floodlight in it.

Question 1: With this Arlo Floodlight, is the subscription required for photos and videos to be "available" on their cloud for up to 30 days? In your review it almost looks as though one can access photos and videos in the "library", as if a subscription is not required. Question 2: With this Arlo Floodlight, is the subscription required for the motion sensor to send an alert to a phone? Sorry again if these questions have been answered, I appreciate your feedback. I’m owner of Pro and Pro2, but this seems like usual 1080p. Also light sensitivity low and as usual 15fps? It will be great if you can show to the people how cameras/picture could react on light changes. Usually when you make test in the house you turn on all lights but is not ordinary manner of light usage in real life. Commonly room light enough to for color record but not enough for good picture due to cameras light sensitivity. I really appreciate your honesty in review. One more great review.

arlo, eufy, blink and others make good cameras as well but ring is hard to beat There customer service and durability make them a top choice. What they lack for in audio quality they make up in customer service and being well built and dependable. He reviews all these cameras but always goes back to ring cameras. why? you just cant beat them overall

If you can wire or plug it in.. it is way better than battery powered cameras..the most reliable and cost effective would be an NVR system wired..

I haven't seen and tested any camera that has a reliable tracking yet.. I can always outrun it... it is better just to have 2 or more camera covering the area you want to monitor that just have 1 camera with pan and tilt function.

Excellent... detailed review. Nice house you have. I have an Arlo first gen pro camera, door bell and chimes. It works okay. I'm waiting for the Wyze outdoor camera when it gets pushed to market. Their price point on items is truly amazing. Hopefully the wireless cam will follow suit. Sucks that the Arlo system has high latency.

I got a little excited when you showed it could connect directly to wifi, I was hoping it would speed things are.. sadly that wasn't the case.. slow live view and latency are the biggest pitfalls of the Arlo system, they would be great if they fixed their software / firmware.. but as they are now, they're complete gimmick of a product while they are plagued with this issue.

I have never owned any of these types of products. I live in Glendale AZ where the temperature exceeds 113°F on many consecutive days in the summer. These Arlo products can withstand up to 113°F. These products would be in direct sunlight at periods during the day, especially the solar panels. Has anyone experienced or heard how these products operate in this extreme heat?

Hi! I’m getting overwhelmed with all of the camera options. Was wondering if you could suggest the top three for me. I’m interested in floodlight cameras and a doorbell camera, as well as home security system with 24/7 professional pro-active monitoring services. My issue with Arlo is that they don’t have people watching the footage nor pro-actively calling the contact or authorities if there is suspicious activity. But the video quality is great. What I’m seeing here, it has a lag time that really puts a hamper on being fast-acting in case of break-in. You seem like the expert on all things camera, so please help me!!!

If you want a floodlight and Doorbell, go with Ring..they have the wired floodlight cam and ring pro doorbell (I use them) and as to monitoring, you can have to self monitor much cheaper and you probably have you smart phone all the time anyways..motion alerts will be sent to your phone. Thanks.

My wife just got one of these cameras, and I wanted to see what was in store for me before I opened the box. Great review! We have other Arlo cameras, and have noticed the long lag time (both connecting and playing live video (like when trying to aim the camera)). I’m a bit concerned about that plastic mount - how will it hold up over time, esp against a very hot summer sun - will the mount become brittle.

Just installed this for a friend at their house Floodlight, and three other cameras, one with mounted camera and two magnetic ones I have Ring Floodlighg and Ring Doorbell Canera I love it better but not bad for anyone that wants something really simple to hook up My Ring Floodlight takes 2-2.5 seconds to load after I click notification I have Att Fiber with Asus Router that has 2G/5G. Connected to 5G, just need to connect my Floodlight to the 5G and it'll be even faster, its connected to my AT&T Fiber

How do you connect them to 5G? Ring Doorbell supports 5G, but none of the others do from Ring, they only support 2.4GHz which is frustrating. As for Arlo, only their Q cameras support 5GHz, and none of the others do... again... VERY FRUSTRATING. 2.4GHz is soooo congested in dense areas.

@@Ren3gade Idk, guess you can't, sucks ass. Have really fast internet and feel like my notifications and time to load the screen wpuld be way faster. The average time for a ring floodlight cam is 4 seconds for it when you click the notification and it starts loading the video. Sometimes mine, on 2.4 I guess opens in 2 seconds, sometimes in 3.5 Ring should do an update to this, also update to extend the recording time for the floodlight, the did it for the doorbell, max time is 1:20. On my neighborhood nextdoor app, someones floodlight cam caught someone getting into their car but not going into their garage. It only recorded 30secs

Not a fan of prescription services and think for this product it's too expensive, so is its purchase price at $250. I also think this products plastic shell will not last long out in the Sun, maybe a year before it starts cracking. And that mount uses soft cheap plastic. However, I do like that it uses the softer yellow tone light. I've always hated those cool while flood lights, it's so annoying to take a walk in a neighborhood at night and the cool whites are blinding your eyes. I'm really hoping Wyze comes out with a flood light camera and shakes the industry with a more affordable price point, like they've done with their other products.

You can disable it..but you have to do a couple of things aside from removing the camera from the subscription... that I forgot already...and it will improve notification times...

@@LifeHackster I've read horror stories on their support forum that it doesn't work that way if you still want storage. Their support certainly cannot explain this, which is sad. If you can get it to work with still having cloud storage, that would be a great how-to for people considering Arlo. That is one of the reasons a went a different direction, anyway.
