My last few months have been rough. I have had Lifehouse in my feed for 20 years, but for whatever reason, this morning, I tell Google to shuffle Lifehouse. This song comes on... Instead of taking it as a relationship, I took it as me talking to my inner self. I fucking lost it as I am driving down a highway. I was a mess. Now trying to reflect on that moment and galvanize it in my memory so I don't forget to have a relationship with myself.

I'm a big fan of Lifehouse and this is my favorite song of theirs. The vocals and lyrics just mean so much when you really understand them. I've had COVID twice, been unemployed for almost a year because of the effects, and have had a hard time getting on with life as normal. I'm a Christian too and this song to me, sounds like a direct reference to the story in the Bible where Jesus tells Peter to walk on the water after he asks Jesus if it's Him to ask him to join him to walk on water. The moment Peter had doubt and took his eyes off of Jesus, he started falling and drowning into the water. My interpretation of the lyrics is a person who's been in the "Storm" and knows because they get lost into Jesus'eyes, they'll walk on water and everything will be alright even though they are lost. I also have severe anxiety and I think Jason has it too to put such meaningful lyrics in this song that perfectly describe what I'm experiencing too. Just a great acoustic performance of such a deep and thoughtful song.

This is a pretty spot on interpretation and I believe this was the inspiration behind the lyrics and the story. It's about being lost in the storms of life and feeling like you're drowning but begging God to just let us catch a glimpse of Him so that we can walk on and through those stormy waters and be assured that He is still in control and still loves us.

They are unmatched. I've seen Lifehouse live 4x now (2002 - 2012) and continue to look for shows in my area. They are soooo good live. The beginning of Everything gets me everytime! 🧡 Unfortunately they've done this song at the shows I've seen but I can only imagine.

Incredible vocals are rarity nowadays? Naaahhh... tons of great voices out there. The one that rare is people playing real, organic instruments. Most (mainstream) music now sounds plastic, very robotic.

I think this song is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I was really pondering the meaning of the words and it could be about so many things, a lover, god, and today, it finally hit me what this song really means to me and why it hits me so deeply. Its like finding faith in the purest sense of the word. Its future and God and needing to know that there is something greater to live for, a reason to live and strive for goodness. Being under the water and the storm is like when one is living life without knowing that there is something greater to live for and when one is simply barely surviving/getting along, but drowning because something important seems to be missing; if it really is true (if I could just see you) that would reassure him that there is such a future truth to fight for, then you can go on and see the light and believe and be a good person as there is a reason for it and a reason to fight for this. Its the struggle along this line; ones spiritual life and the real truth of this. The faith is, well if its true, then I'll go for it... I 'll just walk on water and have the faith you will catch me if I fall. I'll get lost in your eyes, which is like just trusting/knowing without having to look anywhere else, and knowing it will be alright. I find it amazing this concept can be found in such a unique song. Tks for writing it. ;) Possibly its just about a girl.... that brings him the feeling of life and his hope for this, but I like it this other way!

Man, I was brought back to Christ by the help of Lecrae and Trip Lee and people like that.. But key phrase..."brought back"... I was raised in the church and groups like LifeHouse and Jars of Clay will always be so inspirering to me. Music is my passion.
