No intro, no outro, no « please subscribe », no L-cut between scenes, just perfect framed shots, scenes continuity and storytelling. Awesome Rosa! PS : I like when you drive and film from the backseat, and turn your head to talk to the camera, it feels like we’re in the car and you’re taking us on the ride. 😊

Thank you, Rosa! Your videos are really helping me now as I try to overcome a 600-day depression and paralyzing fear. I'm Ukrainian and ever since Russia has been doing this to us, well, you know... Your videos remind me that there's still a different world out there on the planet. Cozy, like your car. And peaceful, like a sunrise in the mountains. With alone girl singing behind the wheel. It gives me a reason to continue living and dreaming. Thank you, Rosa! ❤

Love this. I am watching Rosa's videos for the 1st time, as a 53 year old natural "freebird" as I've been called..and also an American/Ukrainian. The past 2 years since the war has been a soul searching period for me. At this moment, to know that there are others with similarities out there, and the moments we connect, whether it's in person, or not, matter. 😊

I've been to that lookout (probably 20+ years ago) and was surprised at how good of shape it was in, having been abandoned for so many years. I drove the road in my '90 Plymoth Grand Voyager, and yes, the road was rough then. A small downed tree that I thought was fine to drive over, ended up pulling my muffler loose. But I was able to get it reattached. I'm glad the tower is still there in aparently the same shape it was back then. Thanks for the vid.😊

I'm happy to see that you had a good, wholesome, and safe time out in the mountain lookout. A person has to be use to being alone, with silence and nature, and the view was perfect. Being prior service, doing field exercises and living off the land can be challenging but it also has it's rewards as well. Can't wait to see your next video, safe travels and be safe out there.

I watched this one 3 times already. You gave us so many things to notice. I focussed on your sound editing more and more each time. SOOO well done. Flawless. I kept watching the process and the progress of the puzzle, the wood levels, the water bottle levels, all the little "offerings" that people leave there, the Sierra Nevada IPA :) the journal saying that you can't see the sign for the spring on the tree unless you're walking back uphill (so I was looking for the sign on a tree in that part of the video haha). John Prine (Just played Angel From Montgomery last week. Happy Birthday, JP, RIP). .... Ok....your foreshadowing the stunning shots of Mount Hood the next day was awesome, and the cliffhanger at the end. So good!

just finished watching. i am a retired landscaping house cleaner. 1. you did a great job with the sweeping and tidying. 2. you may want to retire the fine toothed bow saw and get a foldable tree saw. easier to pack and the bigger teeth will save your arm.
@billredding2000
@billredding2000 Ай бұрын
Yes...get a Silky saw (Japanese brand pull-saw) -- pricey but perhaps the very best folding saws available. The larger ones (like their "fairly large" (500mm) KatanaBoy), which can handle pretty large-diameter tree-trunks. I keep 1 in my Jeep (a GomBoy model) at all times. They come in different sizes and have several of them: The 2 mentioned, plus the BigBoy and PocketBoy = 4 saws total . Their impulse-hardened teeth last almost forever, and you can get replacement blades if they do get dull. I guess most 4x4/off-roaders who carry something to clear downed trees from trails (or cut firewood) carry gas or electric chain saws (and/or axes) but I prefer the Silky saws -- they don't need battery-charging or fuel to run (and they're silent, unlike chain saws). -- BR

Kudos to you young lady, you remind me of my youngest of three daughters, adventurous, strong, willing and giving, smart and beautiful (which is always a perk). So nice you left the cabin better than you found it. I'd bring up paint and work on the interior to make it brighter and another layer of water resistance. That's what I'd leave. So does the logbook have a section with dates the chimney was cleaned and instructions to inspect it inside? Seems to me that would be important in a firetower, abandoned or not. Since many people use the stove and actual use is a mystery maybe someone should devise a mirror and light to look up the pipe for built up creosote. Dried out boards would light up like a stuck match. Decades ago I installed a very similar boxwood stove on the back porch, it was ok but not great burn time.

I like this video because I was a fire lookout in a tower and really loved it. That tower really is in bad shape. Wish I could have stayed there with you. Cozy inside with the wet rain outside. I could tell you have done much camping. You left the wood stack inside so perfect when you left. Also I noticed how clean you left the place, much better than when you came. If you have never been camping in Oregon, you are missing out! When I lived there, I found a set of lakes up on Mt Jefferson that were right on the edge of a well used trail. Fortunately, most that hike those trails, are just there for the hike of the trail, and from my experience were not really interested in to much of the surroundings. Not that I was unsociable, but if I wanted to be around people when I was camping, I could have saved myself several miles of walking! Thanks for videos like this Rosa, They let me flash back 20+ years to when I was hiking and camping in Oregon.

Interesting with a wood stove blazing, with a cook top you still used your stove. Habit or some reason? Did you bring the bow saw or was it there? Way more efficient than an axe. That reminds me of the cabins all over new zealand forestry land, rules were restock wood, clean up and anything food you don't want to carry out someone might need it. Looks like a great place and the roof didn;t leak.

Very cool place to Camp Rosa! Sure would be nice to have GPS co-ordinance to find this shelter in that vast area in case someone were lost. Even small Planes are sometimes never found due to the forest density of the Mt. Hood Wilderness. Air searches cannot see down into that dense forest.

You are like my soul spiru=it, I relate to you soooo much, when you said you had brought something else up... I immediately thought, 'solar powered fairy lights' and was excited to see I got it right! That and how you spend your time alone, enjoy your own company, and I totally could live like that too 100% 💖

My Gramps worked for the USFS as a carpenter for 30 some years from about 1931 or so. Built many fire towers and other projects in the N end of Idaho, some of those towers he built TWICE. He also built/ supervised the Luby Bay cabin/ museum on Priest Lake--was the Ranger station for many years. Maybe something someone should have left, LOL was an axe/ file/ stone, and better woodsaw.

I can't say in words, just how much fun that looked like, I was really getting into backpacking before financial issues hit me, not to mention physical issues, I was such an avid backpacker for a couple years, and I haven't even been hiking in over a year. But what you just did there, omg it makes me homesick, most people use homesick for actual home or hometown, for me it's being out there alone like that, I miss it sooo much. But thankyou for giving me a glimpse of heaven . You are sooo lovely and sweet 😍 and wow what a beautiful view in the end 😍

Great video. A little trick I use when hiking and plan to be out a few days is a 12 inch chain electric chainsaw. Straps to my backpack and it’s lightweight.

Sounds like a great idea, how heavy are the saws typically?
@BobbyC.95
@BobbyC.95 Жыл бұрын
@@jamespaul2587 Anywhere from between 5 to 7 pounds. Depending on the model. The work it saves you makes the extra weight worth it. I also carry a backup battery.

@@BobbyC.95 thanks, that sounds like a great solution, versatile for home and camp use, much lighter and with lower operating costs than gas models. It's great to see so many new electric tools that are better in many ways than gas versions. The landscape company that services my office complex uses fully electric tools, and I think this will be more common in the future.

@@BobbyC.95 true, that's another great benefit and many tools share the same battery which makes the system even more versatile
