We are Carol & Ken, we like to travel in our Consort Nova Motorhome called Snoopy. But did we buy the right van?
After owning Snoopy for one year, do we miss our NV200 campervan, Little Red?
In this episode we tell you what we like and don’t like about our Consort Nova Motorhome and compare it to the Consort Reef.

Tip…I cut a pool noodle into short pieces and stuck them in the refrigerator door shelves to stop items from tipping or rattling around. They also work to fill in spaces in the cupboards to tighten up the space between the baskets I put in the cupboards for dishes and cups. Cheers from Alberta Canada. My parents were from Blackpool and Sheffield. 😊

I was one of the people who tried hard to convince you to change to a motorvan that you could stand in and have toilet facilities. I have kept mainly quiet for a year just to see how it went. Just watching you you could see it was the right thing to do. We started 37 yrs with a motorvan and always thought it the better option over a caravan. The confort you have enjoyed since you changed is life changing. We stick with gas cooking because we live in europe and gas really isn't a problem. No shortage at all. Ours has been used as a spare bedroom many times, and a day vehicle. I still think the 6m just gives a little bit extra, and you have just said the same. As for the Truma problem. Use the tried and tested, for years by lorry drivers, Webasco. Loved your comments, glad I sat back for a year and watched. Take care.

Incredible how time flies, it seems only a few months ago when you were looking at a larger van to replace little red. The Consort conversion seems to have served you well, and the after care from the company appears to be good. Good call on the annual engine oil change instead of the two yearly intervals, it always helps the longevity of the engine timing chain. 🙂

I found your channel when you had Red but only managed one episode as I felt so claustrophobic watching you. Also as you woke in a farm lane in cold weather I thought what do you do about the toilet,it's the first thing I need when I get up.I later found you again by accident and found it much more entertaining. You look so comfortable now.

Noise reduction: we have a ‘Silent Running’ routine. While I’m tidying up the outside - disconnecting water, electric etc, emptying toilet. Senior Management is covering items in cupboards which rattle with (clean) tea towels kept for the purpose. Another tea towel tucks under the glass hob and sink covers. Our fridge is normally full but it always towards the rear.

Great vlog guys! Like you we use Fresh Wipes in our van. 18 months on from buying our Wildax Constellation 3XL we are still delighted with it. So far no issues though we do have our habitation check next month. We had the lithium battery upgrade and have been impressed when we've not been on hook up. Thankfully we have the van on hook up at home when it's not in use. Stay safe guys. Sid and Nicola, Rugby

@wheelersinthewild , when we were looking for a van we looked at all makes and models but kept coming back to the Wildax brand. We visited a number of outlets and dismissed some because they either didn't suit our needs or the finish wasn't quite right. There will always be snagging issues with whatever you buy but we have not been disappointed. The king sized bed layout and huge kitchen is ideal for us.

One tip for you, check the glass top on the cooker. We have just driven from home to Eye Kettleby Lakes in our Consort Reef and when we arrived we found that the glass on our cooker top had detached from the clips. It was a five minute job to re-fit it and tighten the two screws that hold it in. If you don't check this regularly you might end up with a lot of damage.

❤Making up a bed every night was exhausting and drove me nut’s. I love a fixed bed.❤Love both of you. When we were young in the 50s we had a bath in front of the fire in a tin bath once a week. We are in our 70s now. Your skin will thank you for not drying your skin out. We gave up caravanning when the prices shot up. £65 a night is a complete rip off. It used to be a cheap holiday for families not anymore, even the prices of caravans is ridiculous. If we were fit and well we would have a camper van with a fixed bed. With you having a bad back the larger van would be better with a good memory foam mattress.❤

All sounds good for you both and snoopy. The larger Nova Van would also be much more noisy from the cupboards. It is an issue for everyone, unless you spend hundreds of thousands on specialised explorer vehicles. I use tea-towels, napkins (cloth) and cut off rolls of silicone padding (quite cheap and effective), outcome NO noise and also NO breakages or chips (sometimes I have even had wooden partitions built in and lips on all downward/outwards opening units). Happy days. Summer here started mid-January, almost 2 months later than before, have managed to get sun-stroke (NO fun at all), took almost 10 days to recover! Take care & stay safe. Great video as usual. Our Ford Nugget Plus is actually very quiet, no rattles (tempts fate) and we have music playing so that would mask any small noises. As you film/blog whilst travelling you don’t have music to distract so you’ll notice more rattles. Very wise to do regular oil and filter changes, you look after the van and it’ll look after you! I know what Carol means about the width. I have a campervan which is a Fiat Ducato too, but rather older than yours. I found it very challenging to drive at first, particularly judging the width. I am on my own though, and decided I had to get on with it. So I made myself drive it all the time, and gradually improved and got happier. I also bought a new sat nav which gave me more confidence that I could set it up to avoid the very narrow roads.

Because we have strong 'Mirror Guards' if they touch then I'm as close as I want to be! I try not to drive at night because you can't see branches sticking out or over hanging from above! On Country Lanes! Only way to get used to the width is keep driving it! I do my best to avoid Single Track roads as much as possible! We pretty much fit into a Parking space with a small overhang!

We eventually opted for the 6M Consort Reef which provides greater storage for our UK wide travels and 90 day, predominantly off grid European trips (snow chains, spare toilet cassette, power bank, wet suits etc) These journeys have given us the confidence to plan an extended trip incorporating at ‘Schengen Shuffle’ next year. The extra length also give us additional elbow room and the ‘front to back’ bed layout we prefer. Parking has never been a problem, here or abroad, only on the odd occasion having to buy two parking tickets if we happen to straddle two spaces (a small price to pay). I would say that whatever size van or house we choose , we always find a way to fill them 😂 Enjoy your travels in 2025 👍

When Im traveling I stuff all the cupboards and refrigerator with towels, lap blankets, throw pillows and even papertowel rolls to keep things very quiet and free from movement. Its easy and you get to know just what stuffing item goes where.

We've been looking at all sorts of vans for nearly a year now and have settled on the Consort range. We want a 5.4m but are currently set on the Vibe which has the kitchen across the area behind the cab. This means you can't turn the seats but like yourselves we can't envisage using them much. The real bonus of the design is that you then have a longer lounge which allows two single beds, and a bigger boot which is the same size as the Reef. If you decide to go for a new van you should definitely look at the Vibe ;)

We looked at the Vibe and loved how you got the space of the Reef in 5.4m. As we wild camp we wanted a van you can drive off without getting out hence we went with the Nova. Touch wood but in 5yrs of wild camping we have not had to drive off. Having said that we have parked in some very muddy places and been able to walk into the back hundreds of times. Everything is a compromise on something 😁👍

Hello you two, initially I had the idea that you would stay indoors more, cozy in front of the tv. No not you two! But that's only in bad weather and maybe in winter. And 12 month travel is wonderful. Standing up idem. A loo is great idem. So lucky for us there is still a lot to see of riding, history etc. I use more baskets and compartments to prevent rattling(Ikea/Aktion).

So pleased you have enjoyed your Consort 5.4m van, we have the same basic layout in our 6m van and agree with you that the rear lounge is best. As you get older and the overnight loo trips become more frequent, we have found that the Duvalay sleeping bags work great, you can still have the double bed arrangement but no pulling the covers off each other in the night 🤪🤪. Keep the vids coming, both Dee and I look forward to watching you both 👍🏻👍🏻

We have a 6m automatic van which is easy to drive. Prior to that we had a 5m manual van and I can honestly say I prefer driving the 6m auto. I can concentrate on positioning, getting out of junctions etc without worrying about being in the right gear. If Carol is nervous of driving Snoopy, I would suggest having a go in an auto!

Hi Ken and Carol, another great vlog and I’m so happy you love your snoopy. When we were looking for a van we did check them out but they didn’t have a layout that we needed so ended up with a Wildax which we love. I can also get work done nearer to home (we are near you in West Sussex ) as they have a Sussex dealer.

I’m in the market for a camper van and was delighted when you got snoopy because I knew it would be the right van for us after watching your Vlogs. Consort are more expensive because of there build quality ,I just hope we can save a bit more money to buy one before 2030 because everything will be electric I believe. We really enjoy your vlogs and for now we’ll keep dreaming xx

We love our Reef. It does crash about a bit if we accidentally hit a pot hole, I wonder if semi air suspension would make the ride less harsh. We upgraded to the lithium in November, it’s an automatic and has the electric handbrake so I doubt we will ever change it. The service from Consort is first class - long May it continue 🙂. A great review Ken and Carol.

Hi both, well I thought you made the right choice from the start. I had an Autosleepers Duetto and that had a toilet/shower room and proper galley kitchen and I often wish I'd kept it. The one thing thing I'm not so keen on is your model (five mtr) doesn't have the ability to provide two full length singles or a double which I found was an advantage especially since my late wife was a fitfull sleeper at the best of times and wont to get up at least a couple of times a night. I'm glad you're enjoying the upgrade anyway and I still haven't given up hopes of getting a camper again and maybe even before the year is out. Keep the adventures coming and keep away from those blooming cliff edges. 🐻

That year went by fast! I loved little red but it was cramped. I enjoy the comfort that snoopy gives you. It's more like a home away from home for sure. I'm thinking when you have empty spaces in your cabinets roll towels up or one of your pillows and stash them in there. When fridge has to much space put some empty jugs or containers in there to fill in the spaces. I hope this helps.

I love the odd rattle, I associate it with being on the move to somewhere new - possibly from my days travelling with a horse a gypsy wagon. . I put silicone mats on shelves in my fridge with stops stuff sliding about. Truma does seem to be having problems with the diesel heaters, glad I have Truma gas even if finding it can be a pain. Water wise look at Spotless Water for tank for washing and washing up - pump dispensed at 3.9p a litre. Those Happy Days just bought a Consort.

Hello both. Looking back,, I think you both did really well living and adapting in little red, you made the best of it, no moaning, just getting on with it and adapting along the way. You both deserved the bigger van for your sanity and your health. Being able to stretch and stand up is a huge advantage. Glad you made this video because it makes me rethink which way I want to go regarding van life. Thanks. Paul, Dundee. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

I love my 5.4m Wildax Pulsar because it is easy to park and has a great layout for our needs. It has a front lounge and can be two single beds as well as a transverse double. It is perfect for us as we can both stretch our legs and lie down for an afternoon snooze. We had a 6m motorhome before which I found was not great to park. Take care Gill

very informative vlog has answered a few questions i had in mind and is good to know that you are happy with your choice of van and supplier, i definitely think you went the right way following my encounters with dealers ,with regards to vechile noise while travelling i noticed on one of true blue travellers vlogs they had some foam that could be cut that fitted into drawers and cupboards that held everything secure and could be tailored to your personal requirements quite easily ,and finally wow what a great view of the seals on the beach must of been incredible to see so many ,have seen the odd one here and there but never so many in one place ,looking forward to your future vlogs immensely

One point to consider with a 6m van is the wheelbase. The wheels are further apart - this makes the van hander to manoeuvre and park. The weels on the medium wheelbase are closer together making it easy to manoeuvre. So what you gain with a 6m you lose in manoeuvrings .
