Being on your own must be hard indeed. I think I would go nuts without my Carol. When it all started I was frightened by it but I have grown to accept the risk now. I do my best to keep my mind busy and the internet is a wonderful resource for that. I also stay well clear of the mainstream media. Walking is a good tonic, there is something about walking that sorts the mind out I find. All the best Colin. 👍

Merry Christmas and a happy new year Ken and Carol. As others have said the plant is yellow dogwood from the species Cornus. They are lovely winter shrubs because of their vivid colours and can be found with red, orange and yellow stems to really brighten up the dull winter days. Wakehurst Place is a wonderful arboretum at any time of year and the sequoias in your vlog looked magnificent. Our red VW california is arriving at Easter by which time all these boring lockdowns should be over. Keep safe and thank you for all your inspiration. Andrew

Outstanding surprise - another video from Carol and Ken. The wood carvings were quite unique. I'm always cheered and dismayed when I get to the parking lot of one of my hiking areas and I see so many cars/ people. So, I simply find a muddy path off the main stretch and usually I have it to myself. Also to you two - happy New Year and let's just hold on for a bit longer and maybe we can again visit the lands of "normal" soon.

We own a business and have to do curbside pickup only and it is really tough. We are a lucky one who can still stay open but it is still really tough. This is only our 2nd full lockdown. Love your vlogs and its great how you show all aspects of wild camping, the reasons you chose your van and practical use of it. Well done on camera work and to finish we stayed in Bosham in August with our Tourer for 16 nights on a farm 🚜 it was a great base to explore from west to east and walking on the South Downs. Visiting Arundel Castle was definitely one of our highlights with my Son and daughter then we stopped off at the Black Rabbit pub on the bank of the River Arun to finish our last day . Don't know if anyone else commented on the "plant" you didn't know the name of but it's a dogwood. Good for winter colour as there are several varieties including a really deep crimson which is actually the most well known and often seen. Best planted in stands for maximum effect.

I wish all places could be like where I live. We have zones in New Brunswick Canada. If a zone gets a few cases they lockdown and nip it in the bud. We have a population of 770,000 and have had 500 cases and 8 deaths. We got to bubble with 3 other provinces for the summer and had freedom to travel. We are doing somethings right. Not all provinces here are as fortunate. I am wishing you all the best in the new year.

@Life is too short Like you I belong to the National Trust and find the booking-in system a deterrent to visiting sites. The buildings themselves are shut but still a reservation is required. Luckily the nearest Trust property has pedestrian access to the grounds, it therefore becomes a matter of parking in the lanes, which become full.

Ahoy Pirates! :D Not a morning goes by without you folks going on another adventure! Bloody sorry to hear about the lockdown again! Here it's just the restriction (not allowed to go out between 8pm - 5am) since about the 11th of November but it is perfectly manageable. The vaccine has entered our country, I heard yesterday. I hope you guys can still have some fun at home and make plans for the next treasure hunt! Aye! ;) I like the wooden carvings, especially that bear! :D The big wooden-colored birds are cool too! Well …. you two have really started us along a path that we had never thought about. Our ‘stealth’ van is almost complete, it’s just that Tier3 is now preventing our adventures! Not only have we enjoyed your adventures I have picked up on so many of your useful surviving hints and tips. But I’m afraid I let your photography expertise influence too much …… I just HAD to get a drone and fly in your footsteps, Mavic Air 2 is now the new toy. I’m a small business owner n when first lockdowns were forced on us all of our show venues were cancelled. We managed by promoting our business on line methods. Mine is mfg/ retail, so large venues are still cancelled. Maybe with your keeping us apprised of your planning adventures so. We get an idea of your planning. Or take us on a virtual trip. I don’t know what it takes to do what you do. My daughter is a pretty good marketer so we found ways for us to stay afloat. Over this winter I even plan to clean out some old projects. I’ll call it playtime so it won’t be tedious. Happy new year

Merry Christmas to you both :) , i don't understand why they don't roll out the testing like they did here to reduce the tiers? It has been crazy here people coming to Liverpool from all over the place for nights out , drinking etc no one is policing people from tiers 3/4 travelling to tier 1/2 i know that has my Niece lives in London and spending 2 weeks with my sister in Yorkshire when i asked she just said she is in my bubble with a baby under 1 years old so she has had 6 adults and a baby staying??? sorry for the rant it just makes me cross when i not seen any family this year has abiding to what they tell us. Ideas for videos- cooking in a campervan- showing us how you make videos etc in the van when on the road- charging things up- even if you have to sit on your drive way- your daily walks- anything to do with vanlife all can be done on your drive just close the curtains from the nieghbours :) stay safe and best wishes for 2021 x

Another nice film there Ken. I know that someone else has already suggested it but why not show us what is on yuor doorstep? Use the local OS maps to plot and walk short routes. They do not even have to be in the countryside? I am sure that your local area has lots of interesting buildings and history. The way you put films together will still make them interesting .

Hi! Thank you for the vids - just keep doing what you're doing. We've been on some kind of lockdown in PH 🇵🇭 all this time - I haven't left my province for 9 months. Travel is a bit hard because we need permits, covid tests & quarantine if you go from one region (or island) to another. Int'l tourists aren't allowed & UK flights have been recently banned due to the new strain. We don't have a good health system here, so I understand the measures done by the govt. Many ppl have lost their jobs or businesses. I hope the vaccine makes things better next year. Have a happy & safe holidays! Greets from rainy PH 🇵🇭! 😊 🎄💐

All the vanlife people seem to be buying land and building tiny homes, perhaps you could build a granny annexe at the bottom of your garden whilst planning is still favourable to create an income stream for when all virus stuff passes, as it surely will? Good time to concentrate on investment. You could also get some professional rust proofing done on your van, which will more than recoup its cost in future resale value.

Hi there, I just came across your channel and love your videos, very informative and a refreshing change from a lot of the sponsored stuff out there. I want to buy a campervan with a small footprint like yours but I'm 6'3" tall and concerned about legroom behind the wheel and in bed. I also want to carry my bike with me because I enjoy cycling, I usually take the wheels off when putting it in the back of the car. Knowing that you will have researched the market before committing to the NV200 I would be grateful for any advice on a suitable choice of vehicle. Hi Peter. At 6’3 I would not go for an NV200 as you will be cramped behind the wheel, the bed will be too short and there is no room at all for a bike inside. For your needs I would look at the next size up with a pop top if you want to be able to get under the height barriers. This would be an NV300 and its equivalents. We didn’t research the market much to be honest. Having once bought a rare caravan (rare for the UK) and had terrible trouble getting it fixed I resolved to only buy common makes and local to where we live. That way a problem can be back with the dealer promptly if necessary. Depending on your funds there are various routes you can go from bespoke manufacture (very expensive) to DIY using unusual (but common) vehicles. Check out a KZbin channel called Foresty Forest. He converted a car very successfully to take just him and his bike. He has just sold it but I often think his car design was pure genius and very very cheap. 👍

Hi Ken/Carol i hope you do not mind me commenting on comments? Peter I am a good 6'1" and the NV200 accommodates me better than most vehicles i have driven and is about the same as a VW transporter driver size wise. If you went for a along the side of the van bed passenger side and the same height as the passenger seat is when folded flat you could get probably an 8 foot bed length by 3 feet wide and still have room for your bike with the wheels on. with some clever design knock the bed down to 6'6" you could get a kitchen unit with slide out porta potty by the back doors a table that flips up to outside and still be able to get in and out easily past the bike via back doors. all this and still maintain 45mpg with the 6speed. in a foot print the size of a focus estate. I spent months designing mine to hold my bike, spaniel, diesel heater etc and still be a work van during the week, it works superbly so well in fact i am about to sell my 2014 pop top VW T5.1 Camper similar lay out to Lifes too short. If you cant visualise what i mean search "lens of james" on here he has a full length passenger side bed. GOOD LUCK WITH IT Ed

If you are going to wheelhouse, book in to see Firth campers penistone, they manufacture for auto campers and do fantastic things, I had a tour of their workshop while they worked, so nothing to hide, they also have a bed system for that gives you a large garage on a transit for race bikes etc. There workmanship and unique design ideas are well worth a look at. The older toyota petrols are thirsty beggars and i would be concerned for longevity of legislation conformity in this climate of euro 7 and zero city emissions. Ed

We're all waiting for the day when we can travel at will. Alas the virus is spread by people not following the sensible rules. As soon as the rules are relaxed we think all is well when it isn't. Hopefully the vaccine will be our salvation but you're right it will be several months before normality returns. I live alone but I've always been self reliant so it's no big deal but I long for the freedom to go where I wish. I enjoy your videos long may you continue making them.

We would have to get a much bigger van if we wanted to go full time 😊 During the pandemic we would have to find a safe place like a friendly farmer’s field or a friend’s drive to hunker down until the travel restrictions are lifted.

Lockdown is like applying the brakes on a car. You aren’t necessarily going to stop but it will slow you down and, hopefully, prevent us all crashing into a wall.

I see your point but every time we touch those brakes we wear them down and eventually they stop working and we still crash into the wall. That wall may be different in character but even more deadly. 😏
