My favourite drive in NI. Had a static caravan in Ballycastle for 15 years, love the area, you stayed round near Corrymeela a voluntary peace and reconciliation centre where children from the worst hit areas of “the troubles”were taken for a break away in mixed groups. Not much going on there at minute I’d imagine,? The troubles never closed it.😕 I volunteer in our local Leonard Cheshire homes, not been allowed into th3 homes since March. In Murlough, Carnlough etc the “lough” is pronounced like the Scottish “loch” I’m enjoying this tour of my own country immensely, thanks for sharing your journey Stay safe.

Carol and I wondered if we were pronouncing the ‘lough’ correctly. Now we know 👍. We find it very interesting hearing people’s memories of the places we visit. We didn’t know any of that so thanks for sharing your story 👍

If the weather is good I head up that coastline on the motorcycle after coming off the ferry at Belfast. It's awesome on a nice day and you can see the Island of Arran and the Kintyre penisula from the Antrim coastline. I am converting a Vauxhall Vivaro LWB into a campervan at the moment, but my wife is not happy with stealth camping, she feels threatened when there is noise and cannot sleep, so we will have to look for sites at the moment.

Plenty of space in one of those vans to stretch out 👍. Wild camping is certainly not for everyone as it can be scary at times as you might see in the next film. It takes quite a while to get used to it and we are still not at the stage of being totally relaxed although we generally sleep well. Best advice I can give is try a few nights where other vans are parked up and see how you get on. Being free of campsites really opens up your options. 👍

Deleted by mistake! What a wonderful idea re the curtains , do you have a link for the exact size and curtain ? Also did you do the broom handle bit yourself ? Would you say tho for sleeping the Sussex curtain is best for nighttime tho ? Thanks for reply 👌
@LifeistooshortCK2 жыл бұрын
We had to cut the blackout curtain to size and sew a hem down one side and across the top to thread the broom handle through. Our curtain now measures 130cm/51in drop, 195cm/77in wide (enough slack to secure with magnets at edges). The broom handle we cut to fit the width of the van snuggly so it holds in place with the curtain attached, about 102cm/40in wide. We now use the Sussex Campervans curtain in the front windscreen for nighttime unless we are going super stealthy and want to leave the front windows clear, then we just drop the blackout curtain.

Thanks for watching Steve. I am currently using DJI Osmo Action Canon Legria HFG50 iPhone 12 Max Pro DJI Mini 2 drone For music tracks I subscribe to Artlist We don’t have a shower as such only a battery operated hand held one that Carol uses to wash her hair. If we need toilet facilities and public loos aren’t available we pee into a bottle or use a collapsible bivvy loo. This is explained in our review video kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGO1pp9ontN9fKM

May I ask how you ventilate the car at night, when sleeping? Two people in such a small car would make it stuffy at night. I assume you leave the windows open slightly but that’s always a risky overnight in a car park. Vans tend to have roof vents but I get the impression your car doesn’t have one if the roof is down. I was just wondering. Thanks.
@LifeistooshortCK4 жыл бұрын
Bottom line is it depends where we are parked up. If there is any risk of crime all the windows stay shut. Actually I don’t think we have even cracked a window anywhere we have stayed. So far if it’s been hot the fans have done their job and made it comfortable. With the roof up then we leave the tent open slightly. Not sure about somewhere hot and humid. Then the windows may have to be open. Ours does not have a vent. We can have the heating on just fan mode. My gut tells me that just circulates internal air but I am not sure. So far we have not been anywhere where it’s been too hot. If heat was a problem then I would move on until I found somewhere the roof could be up.
@LifeistooshortCK4 жыл бұрын
Update to this. Last night I left a gap on both front windows as a test. They are covered by windshields. Made a big difference to temperature and humidity. 👍
