There are so many flaws in the story. However, the names and the voice are not American. In the US, apartmemts are not usually owned. If they are owned, they are usually called a condo. We also dont call a house in a small rural town a cottage. Tommy was only 1 when Blythe found out she was pregnant so couldnt have talked like that. Then, no one running an auto repair shop would be going out of town 50% of the time, unless he "owned" multiple locations which it doesn't say. Too many problems with that story.
