I have watched all the "how to" videos. I can't see how to store it for short term (ie not doing the whole palava to store away for a year - I just mean week by week). Do you leave water in it, or pump it out and replace the water with air? If air, then how do you put down the pump as it won't go down with all air in the filter?

Hi, thanks for your question. Once you've primed and used your product the membranes in the filter must not dry out. To keep them hydrated, we advise you always keep a little bit of water inside the product with the product sealed up tightly i.e not open, allowing air inside.

What is the shelf Life if keep unused?

According to their site unused in good storage conditions it's 3 years loose or 5 years sealed up in the pumping unit. It's too bad they don't offer it in a metalized foil sealed bag like their other filters which have a 10 year shelf life.

This is correct! We don't offer the Wayfarer foil sealed as it was designed for the hiking audience and regular use. However, this may be something we reconsider if there appears to be demand for the Wayfarer as a prepping purifier. Thanks
