Hi, great review that is still relevant and useful! I'm wondering if you could do an update all these years later. I'm super curious if your treadmill is still going strong or if not how many years you got out of it. And what kind of maintenance you performed. So your personal experience with longevity and maintenance. Thank you!

Hi Jordan, during my research into Lifespan treadmills like the one you review in your video, I came across a rather interesting FAQ section on a London based website selling this equipment. I think you may find this very useful: " How do I turn off the audible safety alert (beeping)? Our treadmills have an audible safety alert to notify the user when the treadmill is starting, as well as when the speed is being adjusted. You may find this alert distracting in an office setting. To turn this feature on and off, get into engineering mode by simultaneously pressing and holding the Stop button first and then the speed Up button until F001 shows in the display. Press the Down arrow on the console until F015 shows in the display. Next, press enter until either “on” or “off” appears in the display. Now press the Down arrow to turn the audible alert off or the Up arrow to turn it on. To finish, press Enter and remove and re-install the safety key. Note: Turning the audible safety alert off will also disable the alert for Intelli-Guard" Hope this helps with the beeping issue!

Hello Jordan. I tried building a DYI treadmill desk seven years ago. Too early. Not enough information. Poor execution on my part. I had seen the TR1200 last year and was on the fence. Your Before and After videos sold me - though I'm clear that was not your claim or intent. Two weeks and 400,000 steps in, I'm a convert. Thanks for taking the time to post, and congrats on your success.

I have had one for 5 years. I work from home and use it daily. Love it! very sturdy, no problems with it whatsoever. I wish they made a deck that was more "cushy". Like some of the expensive treadmills out there. I'm not a spring chicken :). Best purchase ever.

Can you recommend one that you know is very ‘cushy’; My feet and hips hurt when I use my treadmill for more than 4 hours a day.
@lisawomyn212 жыл бұрын
@@asif62621 I wish I could. I called around and hunted for that several years ago. I even considered getting a cushy treadmill and modifying it into a desk space… And I called lifespan and recommended that they look into that. Not sure if they ever did

I have the same desk. I disabled the beep (disconnected the speaker entirely) and turned off the safety feature where it automatically stops when you step off. Also, I moved my control panel to the center beam below the surface.

It would be great if you can comment on the walking speed vs. work efficiency. But also on the TR1200 vs. TR5000 which is faster, and also on the iMovR walking treadmillls.

Great review. I'm wondering if you've actually noticed an increase in endurance in the legs, and if so, do you believe this translates to walking and running outside or on a treadmill? I'm trying to figure out if this is an effective way to build up the legs for running, while also working at my desk.

Hi Jordan, hi folks! - Do you think the 2-3 PS electro engines create a health-significant magentic field? my workspace/home-office-room is rather small and I am even planning to push the treadmill under my bed at night. I read that some people experinced inteferences with electronic devices. Whats your experience on this? thx!

Thank you for the review Jordan. It helped me narrow down the choice between standing desk vs treadmill desk. I just bought a new TR1200 DT5. Still new to it. The body hurts to stand/walk for longer period of time, especially after having spent last 15/20 years sitting at desk. Hopefully I will get used to it.

i definitely need one of those, even though i lost 80 pounds over the last 2 years it wasn't from exercise. I heard that just standing instead of sitting has huge health benefits (for someone who sits all day, like me) so i need at least a tall table

I've been subscribed for a while and have watched your videos even longer here and on this week in Linux. Very cool to know how you've lost so much weight! You're much different physically now than the big burly guy with a scruffy beard that I originally subscribed to. But there is nothing wrong with that. Congratulations on all your progress. Goodluck with the updated treadmill desk.

A girl who worked at my parents old restaraunt had that problem, after childbirth the extra skin never went away so she hid her stomach, the rest of her was hot. I just walk 3 times a week and eat better. Once you hit 40 your body starts to tell you junk food is not good.

Hi! I’ve come to discover that this model has a couple of wheels at the front. Question: if I wanted to put away the treadmill, can I put it standing on its head?
@JordanKeyes4 жыл бұрын
Not really. The power and serial connections are on the back side, so you'd have to unplug/plug those any time you wanted to use it, and it's quite heavy, and doesn't have a flat back, so you'd have a difficult time balancing it against a wall. Technically, you could probably rig something up to hold it against the wall, but it would be a significant amount of effort every time you wanted to put it away and bring it back out.
@kitussan4 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for taking the time! This is definitely a problem for me. I’m torn between the sturdiness of the tr1200 and the Walkingpad C1 or R1. Xiaomi is also shipping good products these days and one key feature is that one can fold them away, and they are half the weight! But I hardly believe that does not imply you lose something along the way. Would love to know your thoughts on this.
@JordanKeyes4 жыл бұрын
I actually placed an order for the Walkingpad R1 Pro about 2 weeks ago. They said they would be available in June, so I'm hoping for it to ship sometime in the next couple of weeks, and I'll make a video about it. I upgraded my treadmill desk a few years ago (still the TR1200, just a newer model of it), but it's so big and heavy that I find myself not using it as much as I'd like. Hopefully once the R1 Pro arrives, I can start using it with my primary desk setup regularly.
@kitussan4 жыл бұрын
So we are considering the same candidates as I can see. After reading several articles the takeaway that I got is that under desk treadmills play in a different league, and xiaomi and alike are fine for a different use case scenario. Lifebalance products can be used intensively where xiaomi’s and alike would die. What is your opinion on this?
@JordanKeyes4 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard many long-term reviews of the folding treadmills other than from TK Baay: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJCugZeHpNOlZqs. I believe he and his son are stlil using it regularly. If I had to guess, buying a treadmill that can be folded and put away is not likely to get extremely heavy use (a few times a week, walking/running for a few miles), so it's possible that it will wear differently?

I've just got a treadmill desk after sitting all day. But I'm getting some lower back ache. Any tips? Is it bad posture or just because I'm not used to walking?
@JordanKeyes7 жыл бұрын
I would suggest a couple of things. 1. Make sure you have comfortable, supportive walking shoes. You might even want to go to a running shop and have your feet checked out, they can tell you if you over/under pronate, and what shoes will help with that. and 2. Start off slowly and build up. If you're not used to walking and working, it's going to take some time. I started out at the slowest speed for 30-60 minutes at a time, then increased to 1mph, 1.5mph, etc. over time. I still usually only do 2 or 2.5mph for about an hour at a time, then take a break for a few minutes.

Hey! Great tips thanks! Yeah I feel like my back is just weak to be honest and needs time to get used to not being bent over as it usually is.

It sounds like you use this desk mostly for reading and watching activities and edit at a sitting desk. What is your opinion of fine mouse and keyboard work like video editing at the treadmill desk?. I'm concerned that it would be difficult to make all the constant finite mouse movements needed when I edit video. thanks for the video.
@JordanKeyes7 жыл бұрын
I started out that way, but over time I added in more of the fine mouse/keyboard activities. Now I do most of my day job work on the treadmill desk. I started out slowly (it starts at 0.4mph) practicing, and now I can type, edit video, etc. walking at about 2.5mph. That said, I do all of my editing with a trackpad, or with my PS4 controller now, but once you've practiced on a treadmill desk for a while, it gets easier.

@JordanKeyes2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no. The controls are wired into the desktop. It might be possible to separate them, but you'd end up with a bunch of wires between the control panel and the treadmill you'd have to deal with. I sold this treadmill desk a couple of years ago, and ended up picking up a WalkingPad R1 Pro folding treadmill. It's similar to this: amzn.to/3pnWT7o

Good video Jordan and congratulations on the weight loss. A couple of notes from someone who's been walking and working on a Treadmill Desk for two years plus now. It is VERY IMPORTANT to get the height of your monitor and keyboard right. If these height relationships are not right the Treadmill Desk will feel uncomfortable and inevitably want to go back to sitting. The top of your monitor needs to be 1" below eye level. You'll need a monitor stand of some type to make that happen. While typing, your elbows should be a 90-degree angle and the keyboard 1" below the palms. For anyone over 5'10" tall, you'll need to raise up the desk a higher than most standup desks go. FULL DISCLOSURE: I own my own treadmill and Treadmill Desk company, www.UnSit.com. Yes, I got so into working while walking I made my own and started up my own company. The UnSit treadmill is twice as wide and half as long so you can use the whole width of your desk and it doesn't eat up all the space in your office. Whether you buy an UnSit Treadmill Desk or not, GET UP AND MOVE, it's a life saver and life changer. ~Rob Jacobs Chief UnSitter www.UnSit.com

Jordan I have to say after watching this video I am completely sold on this table treadmill! Being Canadian I am having a VERY VERY hard time getting a table shipped to me since I live in Canada. I sooooo hope I can get my 'TrekDek' table shipped to me somehow as they have already accepted my payment for the table but say they don't ship to Canada. Even after the check out process involved 'Choosing' a country I wanted it shipped to! Very very disappointing. But I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated this video. Most of the cheap treadmills use plastic tops you could modify yourself. We have a Golds Gym one for $200 which was pretty cheap but heavy as hell. The top construction is cheap plastic and directions are not very good putting it together. Hard to get the short wires inserted inside one of the legs without pinching between the surface. Could get a table like this and add extensions on the legs and walla!

Thanks for the video, very helpful. And congrats on the weight loss. I was where you are 4 years ago, but gained it all back, and gotta get back down again. I think this could be a huge help, since I work at home. I need some help/info, though. I'm totally sold on this idea, and I like what I've read about Lifepsan products in general. I just have one problem: I live in an NYC apartment and the space is at a SUPER premium. I've measured the space where my current sitting desk is and there's enough room, but only while it's in use. When I'm done with it, I MUST be able to put it "out of the way" somehow. If the treadmill piece can go vertical easily, that's great. There is a picture (www.lifespanfitness.com/workplace/treadmill-desks/tr5000-dt7-treadmill-desk) on the site of a user lifting the treadmill part of the way up. Is this a supported feature? Is it easy to do? Why isn't it mentioned in the documentation?
@JordanKeyes8 жыл бұрын
+Brian Colavito No, it's not a feature, unfortunately. Looking at the picture, I think that was demonstrating the way you situate the treadmill under the desk. I've looked for a similar solution, but the majority of treadmill desks, don't appear to offer a fold-up option.
