My husband and I both work in IT. My project is almost always loaded, my husband's current project is not that loaded, thankfully. He makes tea for us in the morning, serves me breakfast. I usually cook and keep lunch prepared. He helps in making the bed, vacuuming. When I cook, he does the dishes and vice versa... I help him with his outside responsibility (grocery shopping etc) when I can. We share the finances. I got lucky !

It's a blessing to have a husband who truly loves his wife that he shares in all of her burdens and responsibilities. Most women are kept on a pedestal and taken great care by the husband and in-laws during her pregnancy as they want the child to be born healthy. But once the child is born they kick her down from that pedestal/hill top and make her do additional work of taking care of her husband, children and also work to make money. Truly sick of such narrow minded Indian men. My Salute to all the men like Rohan in this video.

Child rearing and House chores are not just women's responsibilities that men have to help, it's for both I feel. Also it's the bare minimum.

@@justarandom2891 on a lighter note, If both husband and wife want to be treated as King and Queen, who will do all the household work? 🙂 Then the maid has to do all the work. In cases where families cannot afford to have a maid then husband and wife have to share in doing household chores. Even if the man wants to help his wife, the man's parents/relatives try to change him by saying it is not manly for a man to help his wife in household chores. That's when the man has to stand up for his convictions and not get carried away by external (parents/relatives/friends) influence.

Don't know why many thinks like, they want the girl who earns and knows house work also. Ofcourse everyone can learn that but doing house work alone and going to office will be difficult for everyone(either boy or girl). So dividing the responsibilities is not an issue, that should be appreciated. If a boy wants a working women then he or his parents should not expect to do total house work by only a girl. Many people need to change

Marriage is a partnership. Sharing responsibilities is a part of the deal, especially, when both of them work. It is unrealistic to insist on traditional gender-specific roles. Many professional women also need to travel because of their jobs. In that case, during wife's brief absence, running a household, and taking care of children becomes the husband's primary responsibility, if no help is available. At all other times, it is a shared venture. Then, there are extreme situations when wife has a better paying and more stable job, and the husband often chooses to be a "stay-at-home mom." Nothing wrong with that. After all women have done this for ages. So, why can't men?

If every single mother of today, brings up her son & daughter exactly the same way...support both in their studies, career & teach both basic life skills, including cooking, from a very young age, the society of imbalance will definitely change. In the past women have been cooking & looking after home, children' till the day they die (no pay, no weekend off, no sick leave, no retirement age), without any kind of financial security, while men used to retire max by 60, with a bank balance & reading newspaper & watching tv post retirement. Nowadays it's become more difficult....they are expected to additionally earn, cook & continue looking after family. It's gotten more disbalanced. If men were made to do a 9 to 5 job without pay or appreciation, most men would quit. Women have been playing a thankless role in society for ages & it needs to change. Irrespective of the gender, every single human being has the right to be financially independent & a responsibility to know basic life skills, including kitchen work. We don't just need more understanding male partners, but we also need women to come out of their regressive conditioning & stand up for themselves. It has to start with how we bring up our children, irrespective of their gender, they all need to be taught basic life skills, which includes any work around our home, including kitchen work. Only then will they equally respect all human beings & be understanding partners in future.

Women have been taking home responsibilities since ages but not without financial independence. Please do a thorough check before labelling such things on our women. Before the responsibilities were clearly divided. Women used to take care of home and society,men used to take care of earning. All the festivals and duties in the society were done by women only. They had enough property in their hands all the time depending on their financial capability.

In my neighbourhood lived a working daughter in law. Her mother in law always told me, she goes to office, to escape from house work. In the evening when the men folk and the daughter in law returned home from work, the mother in law always told her, "Make tea and snacks for everyone, men have come home tired from work." She often boasted, that I take all her salary, why else did my son marry a working girl then? As a neighbour, I cud always hear and see so much in their family. They made her cook food three times a day, clean the house, do dishes and laundry and asked her to tell her parents to bring more gifts. She was not spared from work even during pregnancy. I once asked the daughter in law, why do you tolerate all this? All she said was, "Aunty I do not want to live a divorced woman's life. What will people say about me then? I want a family.... fearing the society, my parents will not keep me in their house if I get divorced " Hearing this, I cud feel my eyes moist.
