I just bought this Kayak today, my first ever. I drove directly to the marshlands on the Florida gulf coast and put in about 2 hours of paddling. It was pretty sturdy and I only got really got wet when I tried to get out of the boat when I came back. My shoes are drenched. But it was fun.

I just watched a video where a guy cut a treated 2x4 to slide into the slot where the rear seat bar slides in. Raises it 4 inches, easily removed. Hope you enjoy the new yak, I bought the Lifetime Yukon Angler 116 last spring and love it.

the center strap back of seat i like to use that to loop to the center mount where the bungies go-- goes in flush and holds firmly
@lowlifeangler2 жыл бұрын
The warp is a defect due to improper cooling of the blow mold or to fast of s molding cycle. The Teton I looked at today looked half blown out. The mold was probably wore out. Blow molding sucks lol. Sorry I do plastic for a living
@greatamericansurvival2 жыл бұрын
Good to know. Mine was a great little kayak. Especially for the price. So do you prefer TST or Roto?
@lowlifeangler2 жыл бұрын
@@greatamericansurvival what I seen on videos, I rather have roto due to quality. Roto molding has a longer cycle time and higher engineering cost. Blow molding the molds are cheap and the cycle time is around 7-9 minutes per kayak. I usually deal with Honda , Toyota, and Subaru. You can definitely see different between Honda and Toyota! That's why I have a Subaru Outback lol

Hey I have the same exact molding "dents" on my kayak aswell I just bought it and noticed it when I got home....it's definitely a manufacturing issue since I didn't not strap it down in that area when I brought it home. Any suggestions on returning it? Or if it causes any difference on the water? I have 30 day return so figuring out if I should return.

If it’s convenient I would go look and see if any of the ones at that store are any better. Honestly I’ve just lived with mine and we just added a new one the bright green very cool.

any long term thoughts on this kayak? looking for a budget fishing kayak this year.
@greatamericansurvival2 жыл бұрын
We have had these two for over a year and they have held up to constant scout youth abuse. Just added the bigger Yukon to our fleet and it’s been great. Much bigger but for anyone wanting to fish from a kayak it’s a very stable choice. But I still find myself throwing my Teton in the back of my truck, so lightweight easy to carry to the water when needed. What are you looking to do with yours?
@stephennight82782 жыл бұрын
@@greatamericansurvival Thanks so much for the quick update, and I'm glad to hear it stands up well. Im torn between a few kayaks, this one, the teton pro, and yukon angler come to mind. As a fellow truck owner i worry about some of the longer kayaks such as the teton pro, that they might not fit easily in the 6'6'' bed of my truck. Its a deal breaker for me to have to roof mount or buy some kayak extender for the truck. I want to come off the water, throw it in the back and go home lol.

Both are great. But if you can handle the price difference or get lucky and can find one cheaper the Tamarack Pro is a better setup. It’s a little more stable, has some storage and the footrests are better. Especially if your planning to fish from it. Let us know if you have any more questions. Cheers

I have this same kayak. I like it a lot but one thing annoys me. Seems to always spin to the right when I’m trying to fish facing a specific direction. I wouldn’t expect it to sit perfectly still but turns too fast before I know it I’m spun around and drifting backwards
@greatamericansurvival Жыл бұрын
Most of the time I start to rotate I’m leaning to one side. Sometime just trying to get closer or leaning back ready to set the hook. Get an anchor and trolly installed. Doesn’t take much to stop your kayak. I’ve used cheap goodwill dumbbell weights, down rigger balls and even barbell plates hooked to a dog leash. Let me know if you have any questions. Have fun. Cheers.

im 225lbs, think this kayak would work for me? they have them on sale this week at dicks for 329$ & i'd love to grab one but i just ain't sure about the 275lb capacity being enough.
@greatamericansurvival2 жыл бұрын
At that price get it and try it out, you can always sell it. I saw a guy last week probably 225-250 running a trolling motor and full size car battery to power it and it was above the line. Where I’ve notice the weight issue is where the rear of seat goes it will start to flex. Seems to be the weak point. I use a 2x4 as a risers and it helps distribute the weight more. I just bought another one last month and it’s such a great little kayak. But if you really worry the Lifetime Yukon is much bigger and got mine from Walmart for under $500
