In this tutorial we will see how to add casing to a recently drilled water well borehole and construct a cement sanitary seal when constructing a water well in rural areas within developing countries.

In colorado we are pumping 25-45' of cement in our areas. We used a half inch drill with a mixer on it for several years. An old fiberglass pressure tank cut down makes a good mixer barrel for 5-6 bags of cement at a time. Since then we built a hydraulic grout mixer. It all costs money but makes life easier.

So do you fill the annular space from the bottom all the way up leaving 20 feet to surface?

Isn't casing made out of PVC?

Well done on the video. I assume the tremie tube is to fill concrete from the bottom up from the gravel pack so the walls don't cave-in? Nice to have pre-fab screen but we have to make ours in the field (see video on "making slotted water well screen") Tell me what you think. David

David Catherina the recommended procedure is to fill from the bottom up to prevent cave in as well as to ensure the cement doesn't bridge over and leave an air gap between it and the gravel pack. In many states it's required by law to pump from the bottom up.
