I always bring a first aid kit when I travel ... pain relievers (advil, tylenol, etc for kids & adult), tums, pepto (kids & adult), imodium (kids), wound wash, bandaid variety, antibiotic cream, bite stick, swimmer's ear, eye wash, cortisone cream, Solarcaine spray, and finally ... instant ice pack for bumps or overheating.

One thing I've started doing for my prescription meds is that I take a picture of the bottle (clearly showing all important refill and doctor info) with one of the actual pills sitting next to it. As I don't carry the actual bottle on vacation with me, I use pill pouches or ziplock bags to travel, I feel like if there was ever a question at TSA or at a port about all these pills I'm carrying on my person that these photos might be helpful. I'm maybe known for being a little overly cautious with this, but it makes me feel less stressed.

The brand of soothing eyedrops my optician recommends is available as a box of single-use ampules. These are great - they don’t expire as fast as an open bottle, since they remain sealed until the moment they are needed, and with no risk of cross-contamination you can share them safely with others.

The concierge desk on MSC cruises will give passengers motion sickness meds for free’ usually one-two doses, but can go back next day if you are still having some nausea.

Sea sickness remedy: a green apple will settle your queasy stomach in minutes. Always seem to be on board. On a cruise years ago we were in the Bahamas and encountered a storm with very high seas. Many of the people on board were sick. My wife was I’ll too. I went to lobster night dinner and our table for eight was a table for three. The waiter asked about my wife and told him she was not well. He gave me a green apple suggesting she eat some of it. Went back to the stateroom and told her to eat some of the apple. Despite her protests she did eat a bit if the apple. Fifteen minutes later she wanted to go back to the dining room. Our children have had queasy stomach issues that were resolved with a green apple or even a red apple. Hope this helps.

Great post!! I did get sick with a cold the day we flew out from northern Michigan . We flew in the day before luckily had a chance to hit a pharmacy right away.. I will never cruise without Advil. Sudafed, a product like Airborne, etc. You never know and better to be ready!

I was told of a seasick cure/prevention which I know from experience works. I bring earplugs. Put one in your left ear and keep the right ear open. I was on a small boat and I tested it and it works immediately as it balances out your equilibrium. Also I pack a bottle of activated charcoal in my first aid kit. For those times you are really unsure of stomach upset from maybe something you ate that was new to you. It will absorb the culprit and give you some relief. I am off to cruise in a few weeks on the Carnival Miracle. This will be my 2nd cruise recently. I hope this info helps.

I take resealable pill pouches (3"x2.75"). Every morning, I transfer my daily meds/supplements to one of them and keep it with me whether a sea day or excursion day. At the end of the day, I know I took everything.

I do this at home as well. I have several medications that take 4 times a day, and honestly as I've gotten older those times start to blend together. It is so helpful sometimes to be able to look and see "oooops, 3 of those left, must have forgotten to take that", or even just "did I take that before dinner"? Bonus, the pill pouches fit in any pocket and are basically waterproof.

Great tips 👍. Ginger tea always settles my stomach & it's good for digestion. Yes anti histamine cream is a must as bugs seem to love biting me. I know you can't really carry them round with you but squeezing a lime or lemon onto the bite really helps with the itch & swelling. Just ask for extra 🍋 with your soda 🤣

Great first-aid tips. I always bring our first-aid/medicine cabinet essentials with us on our cruises. The first thing is to check the expiration dates on all meds. I had things that expired well over 8 years because we kept the same bag going for years. Another thing, especially for the seasickness meds: try it at home first. My friend found out at home that the Dramamine made her extremely sick -on dry land.

Small tip: if you don’t wanna necessarily use those pill organizers to store over the counter meds you can always use jewelry/bead organizers. I bought one from Walmart and labeled it on the back; has plenty of space in each compartment! I use mines as a lot to store any antacid/upset stomachs meds and it fits in small bags .

Nurse here. Things to add. 1. Always, ALWAYS travel with prescription meds with the original bottles. Even if you just put the amount of pills you need into the original bottles. ESPECIALLY controlled drugs. Especially if driving to the port. If police pull you over, find unlabeled pills in random cases, you will get a DUI. 2. I also pack some ace bandage, or ankle supports for small twists of ankles. Klutz here. 😂😂😂😂 3. If you have a PCP, ask if they can prescribe some zofran, prednisone, or any other preventative medications. I don’t get sea sickness. But get MASSIVE vertigo once I get off the ship. The prednisone helps with my vertigo. Zofran for massive nausea. 4. Ice pack. A small one that you can just pop into the fridge. Again. If you need to ice anything. 5. Benadryl. Melatonin or any other sleeping aid. 6. I also bring lidocaine patches/lidocaine liquid. All the extra walking/new bed, new aches and pains. I over pack with my first aid stuff because again, I want to avoid the first aid station with over priced everything.

I use those little plastic jewelry bags you buy from a craft store, for my meds and vitamins. I pack all my vits and prescription meds in one pack for each day with a couple extra days just in case, then I don’t have much to haul back.

Great tips. You're so right about eye drops. I use allergy drops and forgot them one time in 2010. Visine cost me 12.00 US in the ship store on NCL, and being Cdn, I had the exchange on top of that. Had the room cleaning products not bothered my eyes so much I wouldn't have bought them.

I also bring an essential oil diffuser. Many small travel sizes plug into a USB outlet. They often have a multi-colored light built in that is great as a night light. I have always used one called Thieves Oil. It is often in organic cleaning products. The popular blend of therapeutic grade essential oils is based on the Tales of French thieves who survived the plague by covering themselves with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatic herbs while robbing people during that time. There are also some essential oils that help motion sickness. Sometimes you just don't want to take oral meds because they don't always play well with a yummy drink.

For me, Hard Candies. Sometimes waiting in line for whatever, nice to have a little flavor in your mouth. My wife, chewing Gum. She's not a Gum Chewer per say. Hi, love your videos. I always pack a small amount of meat tenderize. I know it sound strange but if you get stung by a jellyfish it works great. Just mix with seawater into a paste and apply. I also bring noxzema cream, best thing for sunburns.

I will never forget on my first cruise (years before covid) I packed all kinds of medicine except cold medicine. Sure enough, on the second day of the cruise, I started getting cold symptoms and that night I had to go and pay $18 for nyquil at the gift shop!!! Medicine is so expensive on board so double check to make sure you don't forget it

its a must for us filipinos to carry efficascent oil or white flower oil 🤣 ( essential oil with active ingredients for pain relief, helps with nausea).. since lysol wipes are 100% needed il add lysol sanitizing fabric spray... i use it to sanitize the curtains, top of bed and couch 😷

I buy those little pill bags at the drugstore and just bring enough pills for the cruise, plus some extra for emergencies, and label the bags with the name of the medication. Saves so much space! We have never had a problem with this on 28 cruises. Of course we don't have any narcotics, in that case you would need the bottle, I imagine.

I've watched a few of your video's and they are wonderful. I would like to suggest either a couple of small ziploc bags to take along (handy for any leftover muchies to keep in fridge but especially for using as an ice pack for any injuries). Though I recently found a small ice bag at the Dollar Tree that I am going to take with me from now on (will not have to worry about leaks once the ice starts melting) as well and just use the ziploc bags for food ^_^. I seem to be accident prone and do things like twist an ankle, or like one time I fell down some narrow steep stairs on a excursion on the Battleship Midway .

Reef friendly sunscreen is the best. J&J recently recalled their sunscreen bc of benzene. I use Caribbean Sol but there are other natural reef friendly sunscreens out there that do not have chemical that will cause cancer.

Great useful video. After watching earlier ones I have now a first aid kit full of all the things you suggested. I just keep it safe ready for the next time. I check sell by dates and anything that has been used. I also lend it out to my daughters for when they cruise. I also have hydrocortisone cream too.

My husband Carrie's a lot of meds when we travel and to save space he uses 4 week pill containers (one row for day pills and one row for night pills. To avoid problems or questions about his meds we ask our pharmacist to print out a set of extra labels. The are very accommodating and we always have the info about each medication as well as the contact info of our pharmacy. Just in case.
