Unfortunately, people these days have no regard for others, which is why speakers and such must be banned now. Also, there are many new cruisers who have no idea how to behave on a cruise. The next thing the cruise lines should do is ban the use of cell phones in the theater. They say you can't use a flash, and to be considerate of others, but I've often seen people holding their phones over their heads, blocking the view of the people behind them and distracting others in the theater. Theaters on land always tell you to put cell phones off.
@madchatteress12 күн бұрын
OMG that is so irritating. I paid extra money for floor seats to a concert years ago only to have my view of the stage completely blocked by an inconsiderate lady who had her cell phone over her head recording the concert.
@nigelcartwright598612 күн бұрын
I recall going to a music concert (land based) sat towards the back of the theater when 3 ladies sat in front of me, all with smart cell phones, videoing the performance, dancing, taking selfies and generally ruining it for everybody around. At an opportune moment I grabbed one ladies phone and told her she can have it back at the end. Obviously there was a scene and the usher then intervened, moving the 3 ladies somewhere else. I would not recommend doing what I did but I did get thanked by all the audience around as these 3 would have continued with their terrible behavior to everybody else's detriment if they were not challenged.

Funny enough, you would think it would be kids/teenagers. But I've been trying to take public transportation lately to do my part, and every younger person either apologized, and turned it down/off, or lowered it themselves either when they were asked or noticed it. It seems to be , from what I saw, about 50 & up that were rude about it. My kids are between 15 and 30 and it would never even occur to them to not use earbuds or headphones. We did good with our kids( those of us who were teens in the late 80s, through 90's. They are certainly a lot more polite and aware of others feelings than we ever were. @katharinabecker752 That general information is no secret. New parents can be "sensitive", maybe due to lack of sleep, sometimes being selfish and not realizing or having gotten used to a restriction on their freedom to do what they want...now that they have children. We had this illustrated just on a cruise we just took. We went out to eat and a bunch of adults with little kids along were already there in the back tables. One 1 yo little girl was too tired, hungry, or just didn't want to be there, so the whole restaurant could hear her cry loudly off and on. The adult parents didn't want to leave their adult friends, so instead of one parent sacrificing his or her social time with friends by taking the child back to their cabin to sleep, etc. ... they stayed. When the child literally was crying/screaming continuously and still kept her there without any regard for the other customers, one customer couldn't take it anymore and suggested the parents take the poor child up to their cabin (BIG mistake). Within 5 minutes of that happening, we saw the mother carrying the tired screaming child and running toward the lady who talked to them, with the husband quickly following and tried to prevent the mother from physically attacking the lady. In the meantime, the mom screamed at the lady, who did she think she was and didn't she know she was a "new mom" of a 1 yo (not very new if she had the kid a whole year, IMHO). Anyway, she only stopped screaming at the lady when she saw Security come in and quickly went back to her table. Within minutes, we saw the family being escorted out by the same Security officers. We saw the family out and about on the ship later. I'm guessing the people who work on the ships don't want the same interaction and possible physical fight that lady was close to encountering...over people neglecting their children via baby monitors. Unfortunately, people can be crazy, sadly.

After our recent cruise on Royal Caribbean’s icon of the sea seas, I would say that they need to ban those little rubber ducks. The people are bringing on board by the thousands for scavenger hunt that last during the whole cruise. Kids running up and down the halls, looking for rubber, ducks, tearing places apart Ripping Central Park to shreds, practically moving lights, moving foliage stepping into the plants it was like carnival cruise line on crack super disappointing. children should also be banned from the aqua Dome. it has two bars, beautiful seating along the ocean front under a covered dome and then these large elevated pods so that you can view the sky. These were full of teenagers every minute of the day and children and the children were running around the Aquadome like it was their own personal playground. we couldn’t understand it when they have a whole deck of game room and merry-go-round and their own waterpark and all those slides and everything is geared to kids, so why were they allowed to be where there are two bars and cause mayhem it’s something that Royal Caribbean really needs to address: even the allure of the seas was not this disruptive. As they ban more and more things as opposed to just enforcing the rules, people are going to just stop cruising. Who wants to see it start taking hours to get through security because they want to go through everything in your carry on?? There are a lot of things that look like speakers, including the power packs they recommend in place of power strips. What used to be a simple scan through the x-ray is going to become a long and arduous experience. I have always taken my speaker, I used it in my cabin at reasonable levels and that's what the rules said. People that were using them outside their cabins should have been instructed that that was not permitted and told to turn them off. Now, every time a certain group violates the rules, we all have to be concerned with a ban.. I'm sure as people become less respectful in this world, more bans are going to happen..

@ There are often at least 2 220v outlets, not always 2 110v. The adapters are pretty cheap I think around $12 now for 3. The ones I bought had the ability to plug in an additional plug. Since I still have some of the old Amazon chargers and devices that don’t need more than that I end up with an additional usb outlet. But yes I have a usb charger with multiple usb slots too. I’ve noticed on some lines there are a couple of usb ports, but they don’t always work! They are in the bottom of th sconce lamps. We often stay before a cruise so the extra adapters help although Italy requires a different one😇 Of all our gear I think my electric toothbrush is the only device that won’t run on 220, so we’re just careful to be sure it’s charged! Well, actually, the curling iron won’t either. For what it is worth, I also have an electric mobility device so there is a need to plug in three devices before charging anything else!

I would never set foot one one of these American floating tin cans. I prefer much smaller ships with zero casinos and preferably with no drunk slobs.
@mikebarnes22947 күн бұрын
There's really nothing American about them other than the predominance of nationalities onboard and where the voyage begins and ends. They are made in Europe, sail under a "flag of convenience" and very likely owned by a non-US entity.

Bluetooth speakers. Our neighbours had thier Bluetooth a little loud and around the pool we heard many. Security didn’t do anything so we aren’t cruising Carnival again.

I would add pink flamingoes to the pineapple decoration ban. Also vaping materials should be banned. on our recent cruise in November, most people that were vaping did not adhere to the designated smoking areas. and many vaped inside and out near the pool.

Were there clouds of smoke around you??

Vapes should definitely be banned, and here's why. I was working at an airline ticket counter, and one counter down, a man had one in his pocket. He dropped it, and it made a sound like a firearm, and there was a MAJOR flashpoint. After it hit the floor, it burned a hole in the carpet, down to the concrete. Imagine what would happen on a cruise ship.
@suekuhn409012 күн бұрын
there were not but you probably knew that already. The request is that vaping is to be done in the smoking area. Not my rule but that of the cruiseline.

People typically vape near the staircases by the elevators too. Doesn’t really bother me because I am “passing through” to climb to the next floor.

Walkie talkies should be allowed if you use a headset w/ mic. This prevents annoying beeps and scratch noises going back and forth between the two users from being heard by neighbors.

Totally 100 agree with banning boom boxes or speakers etc.

Our Celebrity Constellation Premium Sky Suite only had two 110 outlets in the entire cabin. Onthe desk. And NO USB ports! We had one adaptor brick to rotate charge 5 devices, fitbits, cellphones, Kindle. Luckily my CPAP cord reached an outlet but had to put a rug over it to avoid tripping at night (a pair of my walking shorts). Big inconvenience.
@LifeWellCruised12 күн бұрын
Wow, that is a huge inconvenience!

We had a similar problem on Celebrity Eclipse. The ships should be designed with at least 1 outlet close enough to the bed to accommodate a CPAP. They did, however, provide a heavy-duty, grounded extension cord.

They are certain people who still play their music without regard to other cruisers. The crew will not say anything to them.

Not sure if anyone has commented on this but you mentioned Walkie Talkies, The reason most cruise lines ban the use of these are not really much of annoyance but mostly because the frequencies used by these such as MURS, GMRS or FRS can also be used in other countries for Police, Fire or Military. We sail on Carnival frequently and only seen a couple of instances where someone was using an FRS radio in which security warned them not to use. From the last time I checked Carnivals rules, only Ham radio was allowed. When we sail I always bring my Ham radio and was told by the captains staff that it can be used only in International waters or in US ports due to Amateur Radio laws in other countries. When we first board and get our room I reach out to the Captians staff or the Captain and advise them I want to use my ham radio and most of the time they will direct me to a part of the ship to conduct my Ham Radio operations. The last cruise was on the Carnival Panorama where I was directed to the deck right above the bridge. This was chosen by the captain because it is away from passengers and it allowed us to operate without being disturbed by anyone else as well as passenger safety. We are very thankful for Carnival for letting us have our radios and lastly when we talked with the Captain he said that they like the fact we have the ham radio because it can be used as a last resort if all communication radios on board the ship have been lost.

What about those of us that are just taking a repositioning cruise as part of out slow traveling the world 🌎 living. We have no "home" persay. Some items like the starlink mini, bluetooth speaker, power cords and blocks are used for work or at variousland destinations. 🤔
@michellehuth58659 күн бұрын
I totally agree with the speaker ban. We were on Wonder this past July, and the room next to us was blaring music (not at all my choice in tunes) late into the night. I finally had to complain. I felt bad, but I wanted to sleep.

If they have gone ahead and made personal speakers a prohibited item, here's a noise that is more annoying than any music. Pickle ball. The constant repetitive sound of that plastic ball is not conducive to a relaxing cruise getaway.
