So I have a question of everyone that’s had their hysterectomy already...how long before you wernt back to work??? I have two weeks of sick time saved up, and if I have to I can dip into my vacation days for another week, but i sure don’t want to have to resort to Family Leave time, which is unpaid. My job is not very physical, but it does involve some walking and climbing stairs several times during my ten-hour shifts. I had planned on going back after two weeks, but hearing everyone’s stories, I am getting worried about that!

@@Tee-kk6tj I was sore at the incision sites and had little energy, but the pain was minimal. It was nothing compared to the previous two years with the fibroid tumors and after the fibroid embolization. BIG TIP: TAKE THE STOOL SOFTENER THEY GIVE YOU AFTER SURGERY. You do not want to be worried about straining when you need to b.m.. I hope this helps 😁

Hi. Stay hydrated for sure. No carbonated beverages or foods that cause gas. Stay positive and know it will get better , the gas does go away. You can use a walker to help you until you can stand upright fully and definitely use a over the toilet chair . It helps so you're not bending or hurting yourself as you use the bathroom. There is hope through the hurting and healing process. God Bless.

Thank you so much for this video! 😊 I'm one week post-op, I had to get my surgery done on short notice because my last cycle almost took me out of here! I decided on the hysterectomy instead of the myomectomy because I was just over being tired, having low iron and the fibroids could possibly return with just a myomectomy. I don't have kids but my husband doesn't want any either, he is so happy I'm feeling better. This video is right on time

Had my abdominal hysterectomy 6/2/2022… the plan was for me to keep my ovaries… and take everything else.. uterus, fallopian tube’s, and cervix… woke up in some pain (bearable).. and nauseous, which they gave me meds for and worked immediately.. thank God! 🙌🏽.. then I got the news that they had to take right ovary and had to leave the left Fallopian tube due to major scar tissue from previous surgeries c-section and myomectomy (removal of fibroids) my right ovary was in the doctor words “cemented to my uterus” because of the scar tissue and didn’t want to bother the left Fallopian tube because of too much scar tissue and didn’t want to cause hemorrhage… today makes 2 weeks and I’m recovering well.. still some pain but bearable, just take the Motrin 600 to ease it. Rest, gas X, heating pad, and Welch’s grape juice with fiber has been my best friends… sorry this was so long, but hope it helps someone. Happy recovery ladies ❤️‍🩹❤️

I officially became a member of this club on 12/11/24 and this was best Christmas gift i have given myself!!! I'm 46 yrs old, i tested positive for ovarian & breast cancer genes along with having extended periods (over 22 days) due to cortisone injections used to a right shoulder separation. Feb 10, 2025 will be my 2mth check up, I was fortunate enough to have the Da Vinci robotic surgery in which they removed everything forcing me to go into surgical menopause. But so far so good , hot flash and night sweat are quick and don't last longer than a minute. So far i feel absolutely amazing. Thank you for your amazing videos, i found them a week before my surgery. Absolutely well done.....sharing is caring! Thank you for sharing your story with us!

Talking about that gas, no one told me nothing, i had a surgery on my cervix, i felt some spasm on my left upper chest. It gets worse with time. One year down the line the pain still there. Chapter 2 of my story, hysterectomy had to be done due to overbleeding as a result of cervical conization. I am now on day 13 recovery. I am happy i found this video

I feel you. I’m in this process now. All my incisions have healed except one. I’m just a little over a month and a half post surgery. I had a total laparoscopic and abdominal hysterectomy. I’m still sore in my sides and bottom left of my stomach. My uterus weighed 3 1/2 pounds. I still can’t wear anything tight around my waist. I’m still swollen. I still take my pain medicine and like you, I have to pace myself when doing certain things like walking, cooking and showering 👍🏽

This info was so helpful! When I decided to have a hysterectomy 1 month ago, I got on KZbin to find info about what to expect and recovery. I found you and was up all night watching your videos. I immediately bought everything you suggested. As of today 01/02/21 I am 4 days post op, I had my robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy on Tuesday 12/29/20( I still have my ovaries). Recovery is going ok but this gas is the DEVIL!! I definitely can not move around like you and I am alternating between the hydrocodone and ibuprofen every 6-8 hrs. I’m extremely sore and I can feel all the soreness in my abdomen. My incisions don’t hurt but i know they are there. The last 2 nights I have not been able to sleep at all until around 5/6 am (it’s currently 3:45am and I’m so uncomfortable 🥵) my back hurts and I can’t walk standing straight up. Thanks again for this video because when I’m having a hard time I hop on KZbin and watch for reassurance. Blessings and Stay Safe....

Hi. I'm almost a month post-op. Have you tried the peppermint tea, using a walker to help you get around to relieve the gas as well as the abdominal binder? It will get better. Stay positive, do what you can ,when you can. I was able to drive before 2 weeks so I say this to show hope in the midst of the healing process. God Bless you.

Had this surgery for cancer 5 weeks ago. They removed everything and some lymph nodes. Everything she says is true. My essentials: abdominal binder, high quality grabber, muumuus or house dresses, towels to cover chairs I sat on because I couldn't tolerate underwear, abdominal binder (wore over house dress to help keep it clean), shower hose to keep private area clean, pillow to brace stomach for coughing/car rides, advil liquigells, and TV dinners. Having an insulated cup to keep ice water handy was good to. I kept all my essentials in a dishpan bin and carried it with me. Also identify a plug you can reach without bending for your cell phone and laptop. I duct taped an extension cord to my bedside table so it could not fall. Have shoes you can put on without bending. I am fat with big stomach so that made it more difficult but I'm fine now and you will be ok too. 🤗🙏💐

Omgoodness!! This was a Godsend 💕. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks. I’ve fought against having this surgery for years because of fear, vanity, other people’s opinions. I just had fibroids removed 6 weeks ago. My first period after was so horrendous, serious crime scene. I found out today that I will be having the laparoscopic hysterectomy in February. This has put me at ease by now having a plan in place. Bless you❤

Y'all, I'm having a total abdominal hysterectomy (an open/C-section type of incision due to the fact that i have two large fibroids, one is 10 cms and one is 6 cms. What is this man thinking?! Last summer I had pelvic organ prolapse repair (all 3) and my tubes taken out. We didn't know going into it if I had endometriosis or not and decided against hysterectomy. No Endo was found, but signs of adenomyosis were observed during my surgery. I've spent the last 9 months healing from surgery, experiencing the return of prolapse, and trying non surgical methods to manage the adenomyosis. I just scheduled a hysterectomy for this summer. So much of the recovery and supplies overlap for the two different surgeries. Thanks for sharing your story! Hysterectomy at 33 has me older than my mom was for hers at 29, and she had a radical and was opened up all the way. I had my total abdominal hysterectomy in 2015 (my uterus weighed 8.4 lbs) 😳😳....my surgeon gave me a pic and said she delivered three 9 lb babies that day and I was up there with them 😳😳....I think I was very lucky, I have a very high tolerance to pain and never had pain pre-op, just a lot of pressure ....as far as post-op, I only had pain when I coughed and then when the “hospital meds” wore off maybe a day or two later...I wasted my meds because I still had two full bottles because I only used them 2-3x afterwards and only used the belly band once or twice...I know I was very lucky - my primary doctor saved me because she is the one who was concerned during my physical and schd my appt with an OB - and I cannot say enough good things about the OB (I’ve had a few friends inquire about her since then) and the entire staff....My staples were removed the next week and she said as long as I was not on medication then I could drive (I was shocked because I had heard from others that I wouldn’t be able to do anything), but you best believe I took all of my written time out of work 🤪....so here we are 5 yrs later, no regrets and I do not miss having my cycle 😋....these were great tips...good luck to anyone else getting ready to go thru this.

He called to say he needed some over the counter medication so my husband was going out to pick it up I had the bright idea to ride along. We were stopped at a traffic light and a car slammed into the back of our car. Thank God I had the belly band on! The belly band got me through the healing process. I'm week 4 post total abdominal hysterectomy and my biggest piece of advice is don't get constipated!! It was 8 days before things got moving and it was very painful. I'm not sure if you have Laxido in the States but it's a powder mixed into water and for constipation you drink 8 sachets in 6 hours!! 😮 Well it worked and without pain!! Good luck to all ladies pre op and post op...l can honestly say it's the best thing l've ever done 😊

Do you mind me asking what type of complications you had?
@jamijack07
@jamijack07 2 жыл бұрын
@@Nika-xh1fc Sure. My surgeon nicked my bladder (intraoperational bladder injury) and I did not know until days later so it caused a pelvic infection and vaginal cuff dehiscence from the pressure of the fluid. I had adhesions from previous c-sections and she said it must’ve happened when she was releasing them. Thankfully it was just one small laceration, but it was bad enough that I had to undergo abdominal surgery again a week later to have my bladder and vaginal cuff repaired. I have been on bladder rest with a Foley catheter at home for 5 weeks. I have ct scans and urology follow up Wednesday and hopefully everything is healed. I was cleared by gynecologist last week. All this being said, I do not regret the hysterectomy. I have only had one would-be period so far and not having to deal with it was amazing! For the first time in years, my hemoglobin raised naturally from food alone. I have been severely anemic and needed frequent iron infusions or occasional blood transfusions. I kept my ovaries and I haven’t had any hormonal issues. My complications are EXTREMELY rare, so don’t let it discourage you.

This is a great video! I’m 2 weeks post op and like you, it seems like I’m getting pain this week that I didn’t have before. One thing my nurse told me in the hospital was, “I don’t care how good you feel. Remember the surgery did happen”. And now I know exactly why she said it. Every time I have my moments of feeling good and almost forgetting, my body reminds me the surgery happened. I plan to do a vid on my channel at about week 6-8 or maybe when I’m fully recovered. Talking for a certain amount of time is very uncomfortable for me right now.

The Belly band helps. I also have the wedge that transitions. What a help. My heating pad just arrived. I really needed it yesterday. My lower back pain was bad bad. I layed my head on one pillow and used my wedge for my legs to be raised and bent. It helped. Another position is the pillow between the legs and pillow up against belly and 1 pillow under head. I am getting hardly any support from my surgeon. I had my surgery complete hysterectomy ovaries fallopian tube uterus and cervix were removed vaginally, on June 12th. I had my 2-week post-op appointment and my surgeon said that I really didn't have to come back again, which I thought was very strange. I knew I'd feel some pain but I didn't know the time line. I am experiencing the same thing that you just talked about because I didn't really have much pain for the first week and now nearing the third week, I'm having pain again. I thought it was because I lifted something more than 5 lbs that caused this pain to come back again. I drove my car up to the local grocery store yesterday and when I got home I slept for 4 hours. Also, I'm having some kind of UTI infection and I don't believe it's a yeast infection because none of the traditional medicines are helping. My surgeon is refusing to let me get a urinary sample taken. her nurse actually told me to go to the emergency Ward if I wanted to have a urine test. I really feel like I'm on my own without any medical support. So, thanks for sharing your experience.
