I've had good luck with ruffstuff kits to do these 8.8 swaps. Didnt have to grind or adjust anything. I'm getting ready to do another one for my cousin. I'll be using parts from ruffstuff.

I’ll look into their kits, we’re getting ready to swap the axle in the Jeep in the next few weeks! Thank you

You’re suppose to set pinion angle with the weight of the Jeep on the axle with leaf springs. When you set your jeep down, the pinion will be pointed higher.
@TheDogHousetv2 жыл бұрын
I have learned that, i was pretty fortunate with the setup

DC Fab will make 1/4" perches to your specs for $30 with a 3 day turn around. Fuck the mainstream, one size fits all stores. Now you know for next time
@benjaminstokes49917 жыл бұрын
You set pinion angle with the suspension unloaded. 👎🏻

Guys at 4wheel parts may have given you 8.8 leaf perches for a smaller car 8.8 housing.

My boss wouldn't accept welds looking like that from me. I'm a fabricator and certified so I'd get my self a ass chewing lol.

Mel's 12valve I can understand that, my first two beads were meant just for penetration, I capped them with those fat weaves. In welding school they'd ring my ass for it too 😂 - travis

The Dog House any plans on uploading it? kudos to your boss for letting you work on your jeep at his shop, thats whats up. Did you have any trouble with the fittings for the brakes?
@TheDogHousetv7 жыл бұрын
Ezeus R it's uploaded bud, the entire IRO Lift install is up. My boss is pretty laid back as long as I get everything done & clean up after my self.
@TheDogHousetv7 жыл бұрын
Ezeus R and I had issues trying to use the stock brakes off the Ford Explorer, but I ended up buying new lines, bending them and ran them out to the soft lines. I took the soft lines in to the part store to make sure I had the right fittings

The Dog House I see what you mean, I am going to do this swap here in the next two weeks, hopes it comes out ok. thanks for the advice and keep up the hard work

Do you have to have a load on the axle ? Or let it hang and rotate it, then tack?
@TheDogHousetv5 жыл бұрын
Vtx Savage a lot of people in comments are saying it needs to be loaded, never had an issue in several xjs ive done doing them unloaded

I was able to get away with the stock drive shaft, you just need to get the conversion u joint to use the flange for the pinion on the 8.8

Being the diff is slightly off center do you notice anything different while driving? Or was there no issues with it being off center?

No sir, she rode fantastic. Drove it up and over the pass to Moab & back. Zero issues with it

Vtx Savage 15* is what I’ve set mine at, I’ve ran 6.5 with no SYE, no driveline vibrations. I thought i had showed it in the video
@mbolt75755 жыл бұрын
The Dog House thanks for replying. I overthink everything, and your video was the one I liked the most. So I wanted your info on whatever you could give me lol I set mine to 14. I think it should be ok. I might have it all done to test drive it tomorrow finally. Love your videos. Especially the Jeep ones

I read every forum I could find and not that detailed. I didn’t know if it was a general rule of thumb or lift height mattered
@samiargos7 жыл бұрын
do you get driveline vibration on the highway speed (65-75 mph) since Ford 8.8 is slightly off-centered?

Sam Rezaei none whatsoever, that jeep rode amazing.
