Nice video, thank you! I also lifter my l322 but had to ream out the holes in the top of the strut towers. When lifting, you loose camber of the front wheels. Unless you ream out the top mounting holes , there is no way of adjusting camber. Also, the front suspension bushings on the thrust arms are not made for a lift and become misaligned. This causes them to shear off and the front suspension bushings become loose with a lot of play. Replacing them with polyurethane bushings fixes this issue. 😊

I lifted my LR3 3inches by modifing a 2 inch Johnson Rods and when l took the truck on the road it blew one of the struts after hitting a pothole at 50mph. l think that's the reason the truck automatically won't allow you to go past 30mph when fully extended. l must note that the truck had it's original struts from the factory and they had already 130k miles on them, maybe a new one would've taken the impact but l wouldn't go past 2.5 inches or even 2 inches.

It might have happened due to over inflated air bags, that's why spacers are needed too, they help to keep standard air pressure and suspension characteristics

You should consider slacking all the suspension control arm bolts, and retightening them in the new lifted position. This will mean the rubber bushes are in a neutral state. ATM its as if the suspension is always raised, and they'll always be under torsion, and fail sooner.

In my opinion, in order for the joints not to work on a break, it was necessary to put spacers between the frame and the body

It doesn't have a frame, and lifting suspension ground clearance increases dramatically, upside of independent suspension

@@shittysolutions Was there an opportunity to make the spacers entirely on the subframe? A very common solution for lifting the CR-V RD1
@shittysolutionsАй бұрын
No need to apologize, this is the first unibody Range Rover. It's possible to drop down subframes, but it's not an efficient way to lift a car with quite high suspension travel. Also axle shafts are not afraid of higher angles, perfect truck for suspension lift, cause lifting from air bags increases ground clearance
@antol20058 күн бұрын
Question: If you lift 7,6 cm by spacers attached to the damper - won’t it affect all the other arms from the suspension? That means that all arms, bearings, rubbers etc. will be in rest position (car is standing) always under tension and in angels not as from Land Rover engineers planned - is that correct?
@shittysolutions8 күн бұрын
Well yes, it's not the designed position, therefore retightening of all effected bolts is needed, but other than that it's not that big of a change. Suspension on L322 has lots of travel But axle shafts might live shorter than expected 😅
@antol20058 күн бұрын
@ is there another way of lifting? Are there P&P Portal Axles for a L322 available?
@shittysolutions8 күн бұрын
Portals would add a lot of weight to the suspension, on the parts there you don't want weight, especially if bigger tires are considered. 7cm isn't that big of a lift, I'm driving with it for almost half a year without any problems. For an extra safe lift, you could consider changing air bags to springs, that lift suspension, or lifting suspension and equally dropping down differentials
@qwertylolman29 күн бұрын
is there still enough space for wheels to use all modes of pneumatic suspension?
@shittysolutions29 күн бұрын
Yes, not a problem with that, just needed to adjust lifting rods to make +7cm lift
@tomaszdobosz3868Ай бұрын
Hi. Nice video. I have a xlifter installed and can choose car height from that device. And car is not warning when driving to leave the offroad height etc. I can even choose 7cm lift with that and do not have to do any modifications that you did. Am I missing any advantages over what you did and what i have?
@shittysolutionsАй бұрын
Thanks! Yes and no, you have the same 7cm lift but your air bags are now overinflated that makes ride quality quite hard and shocks are almost bottomed out. With spacers air bags have inflated to its stock parameters and height, therefore it should make its life a bit easier. Other than that it's the same, but much more comfortable to regulate height with an x-lifter. Oh and with spacers I can lift it a bit more, changing into off-road mode 😅

I'm going to miss the Explorer (I have modified 1993) but I also have 2012 Range Rover Supercharged with a similar lift kit that is made in the USA. Works the charm for the last 2 years. Mine is 2.5" of lift and I run 265/65R/20 tires and it is my daily driver. Unfortunately the newer supercharged version can go no smaller than 20" rims due to the front brake rotor size. Very stupid for an off road truck, I don't understand why Land Rover continues to do this. 17" rims are an ideal size to allow for decent air down.

Heh, thanks, it wasn't the best day when the Explorer got sold. Yep r20 rims a bit too much for mid tires, but for daily driving good enough 😅 R17 can hardly fit on those td6 brakes, they were made for R18, but some newer bmw rims can fit on these brakes
