Now THIS is good. I love the rain in the confrontation scene. It's as if the rain is meant to wash away Dudley's outer persona and reveal his true colors.

There's something I've not seen anyone point out with regards to Dudley that I think is worth bringing up. Given the reason for his actions as well as everything that was happening on British Railways at this point in time, he can't be the only steam engine on British Railways with this mindset surely! Who's to say that there aren't other steam engines fleeing scrap who would be willing to go to the same lengths he did?!

If am not mistaken what really happened to Dudley is that he was scrapped like his brothers and sisters, since the engine he's based on (LNER O2) was scrapped in the mid 60s

You would be correct as in fact he would become the scrap engine that spooked Diesel in "Demons" by Carson's Video Workshop. This was confirmed by the writer of Dudley, who is "The Buried Truck" btw.
