Sometimes life just gets in the way Karina, and things need to take a back seat for a while. Your viewers will still be here waiting while you enjoy quality time with your family ❤️ I also think that working in chaos does stifle creativity and a good sort out of fabric/patterns gives me inspiration and gets the creative juices flowing again! I have loads of patterns which I store in plastic wallets by type of garment and then alphabetically by pattern company! A good look through every now and then pulling out patterns I feel inspired to make, or mooching through my fabric stash and then looking for a pattern to make from a certain fabric gets my sew jo going. I hope you now are feeling more inspired! ❤️

I just read what you wrote in the description box. You can still be committed to this channel and take a break. We all understand and will be here waiting for when you feel recharged. Just last week, I took a break from actual sewing and organized half of my patterns. I have too many to do all at once in the time frame I had. It is wonderful to re-discover patterns we have used and can sew them up without much thought. Sometimes "mindless" sewing can be relaxing. Sometimes organizing fabric or tools, or tidying up our sewing area helps. Sometimes walking away from it all for a time helps. I have several hobbies, so sometimes I will switch over to a different hobby for awhile...like hand embroidery, scrapbooking, crocheting, or even home decor projects, or rearranging furniture. Sometimes a break doesn't mean not sewing at all, but sometimes it does. Do whatever helps you recharge, Karina.

I'm excited to see what you make your mom, being older myself. I also relate to your style and it's so interesting that you take your style from your mom. I have actually lost my sewjo for a year now. I make things for others but find fitting myself rather tedious and not fun at all. I tried to make a bodice block but it was a complete failure. I will try again but maybe later, when I don't have birthday gifts to whip up. I'm working on my first quilt and am getting back into drawing, so it's not that I've stopped creating; I too love being creative. Not all of us are into detailed organizers; quick and easy is good. Craft fairs are so much fun. I'd be surprised if you feel inspired again. Enjoy your family too. Maybe this is the break you need.

Good morning! I totally understand how you feel, there is no reason you have to be “up” all the time. Missing your sewing energy is probably a big hint to do something different and the big shopping trip with Martin should be a ton of fun! Your parents coming for 3 weeks is awesome too! A great way to finish (?) your winter months😁. Meanwhile sorting out the patterns was a wonderful few hours of therapy 👍. And helpful to others (including me😉) Meanwhile, go run, lift weights, plan menus for when your parents come. Planning sewing projects too far ahead seems to backfire on me, maybe you too? So just play with the little girls things or something for your dad or mom - just play - entertaining yourself, not “working” your channel. Part of the charm of your channel is the love you have for the “playing” with fabric and “playing” with the patterns. So...relax, enjoy your life, and share when you feel like it 😍 lots of virtual hugs!

When I last lost my sew jo I had been sewing very steadily mostly on projects I needed to complete in a timely manner, two that didn’t feel super creative. When I finished I felt like I had been deep sea diving for too long! It took several weeks and some simple projects. At the same time I was feeling disappointed that I wasn’t getting any videos made. Now I am in a good place, even though summer requires much from me in the yard. I do love the gardening too, so I have to choose. In about 8 weeks it will start to rain and get cool, and my yard responsibilities will go away almost completely for six months. Finding balance is hard! I struggle to stay organized, it does not one naturally, but I do have a few things that work well enough. I think I woul e fabric covered boxes, they could flat fold for moving, to new boxes could be covered. But whatever I is has to work for you!
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
I need to sew more simple, whether simple project or re make ones I have already loved in beautiful fabric. That doesn’t take mental energy. I need a shift. It’s hard to be on the top always, specially with creativity. It’ll be a phase I’m sure. Thank you so much for the kind words. I have no yard work, ever lol. The bugs get me.
@lilolmecj5 жыл бұрын
You do sew a lot, and often quite detailed projects. It might be you are just putting too much pressure on yourself and lessening your joy a bit. It might be hard to believe, but where I live we don’t have a lot of insects. While it is not usually terribly cold in the winter it is very gray and cloudy from November to April so I try to be outdoors every day in the summer, at least for a couple of hours.

I totally understand the bits about moving house! Because of career paths and family responsibilities my deceased husband and I moved a lot! Sometimes I didn’t even unpack the boxes. I moved 17 times in 33 years. I have now been in the same house for 15 years. Almost moved 2 years ago but backed out. I am sure you have also met a lot of people and had some great friends along the way. Best wishes to you and your family.

I keep my patterns the same way except I use zip lock bags, works well for me. I always feel so destressed when I get organized so I hope you feel better too. You have been making such detailed complicated sews lately, maybe revisiting a couple of patterns that feel like old friends will help. You looked like you were getting excited about sewing when you pulled some out during the video.
@susankennedy63515 жыл бұрын
That was fun Karina, seeing how you store your patterns. I do the same with hacks I've made from old basics, and traced Burdas. I just got finished sorting and refolding my fabric this afternoon and it is so nice to see an organized bookshelf with neatly folded fabric. Just going back and retouching a lot of it gave me some ideas. That's great that Martin is going with you. He can carry some of your bags! And happy to hear your parents are coming, that will be nice for you. Did they suffer any damage in the 'temblor' the other day? Thanks for all you do for us.
