Brian Wilson is Professor of Medical Biophysics at University of Toronto/University Health Network, Canada, where he directs a multidisciplinary program in the development and application of biophotonics for medical analytics, diagnostics and therapeutics. He is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Michael S. Feld Biophotonics Award from the Optical Society of America and the Britton Chance Award in Biomedical Optics from the International Society for Optics and Photonics SPIE.
THE FUTURE OF LIGHT
The science of light and its applications in the field of photonics provide many examples of how basic research has yielded
both fundamental insights into nature as well as important applications in many different areas of science and technology. This session will see brief presentations on new research directions in both basic science and new technologies, as well as a review of the remarkable success story of light in being recognized by the highest award of the Nobel Prize.
