Prem Shetty Films Presents Shivadhoote Gulige:-One intresting Legend Retold in Bunts Page narrates that Guliga, Jattiga, Chavandi Gulige are four sibblings survived among 24 Childresns of a Mother.This legend gives us a hint that these 4 Spirits were more or less contemporaneous.
Guliga:- This spirit lengend is worshipped in the form of small rectangle shaped stone kept under the shade the tree. The simplicity of the symbolic structure representative of the Spirit suggests the antiquity of the Guliga Cult.It can be seen that before the advent of symbolic Structured forms and wooden or Metalic Mask. The earlier spirits forms were used to be worshipped in the form of Symbolic Stone.For Example the Katta,the divine spirit worshipped by Koraga tribes was also represented in the form of piece of stone placed under the shade of tree.
During the Guliga Spirit Festival " Kola" celebrations essentially consist of the Guliga character with his face weirdly paint in Red,White and Black colours and wearing strings costume of Tender Palm leaves, Dance fervently around the burning Firewood.
