i remember when The Normal Elevator had a secret code in the lobby, which I recall was "3792" or something like that. It led to a haunted/cursed elevator called Gavin's Elevator and I found it super creepy. There were puzzles/obbies you had to solve, sadly never got to the ending (I was 7 and quit the game when I couldn't figure it out lmfao) The game/locked code is inaccessible now (I'm pretty sure), but I know Gavin is a monster in "The Normal City", apparently he was killed when camping?

I definitely agree with your viewpoint on how you judge Roblox games; I've also always felt that not only is it fair to compare Roblox games to real games, that's how it should be done, because your enjoyment of a game isn't quantified by whether or not it was made on Roblox, but rather if it's just actually fun! Cool fun fact for anyone who sees it: Zeekers (the creator of Light Bulb) went on to make more great games, and not just on Roblox! He created It Steals - a somewhat Pac-Man styled psychological horror with multiple game modes (including a fun "Shutter Mode" where you get to see your pictures at the end), and The Upturned - a "comedy-horror" where you play as a guy who just wants to get to his hotel room, throwing anything and everything at whatever gets in your way. I highly recommend playing them both, they're such fun to experience for yourself ✨

You're right man. My version of Light Bulb does remove a lot of the suspense. It wasn't supposed to get any recognition the way it did right now. It's was all just for fun... Now since it really did get popular it really was my job to make it good. Yet I didn't revert or consider the changes I did that was 4 years ago, when I started. I was very young, I just wanted to have fun messing around with the game I loved years ago. I had no knowledge of coding so all I worked with was with repositioning things. As you can tell throughout the regular game I made changes that are just like that. Especially with the paintings everywhere and the monsters more exposed. I completely forgot about these little things since I worked on the True Ending more. So they were just left there. If you played the True Ending you would notice the painting of the monsters are heavily less but more with the faces since you are in the True Ending area. The part where you complimented my choices at 15:00, that was implemented about 7-9 months ago as well with the exit signs and the door to trick the player since I did believe people would most likely flip big red switches. I also made the hole harder to see if you do go for the door. So good for you to realize that was my intention. There's a lot of that in this game. I do want to mention at 12:50. The reason the monster comes out later was due to my terrible coding since that was probably my first time touching the code of Light Bulb. The light flicker is slow and needs to happen first before the monster peaks. Since there was no flicker in the original the monster came out faster. Since I added a flicker it delays it sadly... The flicker is also ugly too, when looking at the code right now I noticed how terrible the flicker was. 0.5 seconds for it to flicker. So yeah very terrible. Another thing I want to explain is at 13:30. This was also one of the FIRST things I had done to my version 4 years ago. You can even see in my archive. If you join Reimagined, go to EXTRAS > OTHER > NEXT > Old Light Bulb Reimagined. It's a version of my Light Bulb from 2019... Just when I started. That same cutscene is still there. Again I agree it's not the best since it just tells you and puts it front of your face. Like I said this was my mind 4 years ago when I just wanted to fool around with the code and such. Then these things just stayed there forever... Yet again I do agree that I made the suspense less since I made it more obvious. I heavily thank for your criticism since I don't get that often towards my Light Bulb. It's either really good or little things they didn't like here and there. Yet your analysis was really helpful. I will revert all the bad things you mentioned. I would've done this sooner if only I thought about it more. I really do care about the game and making it close to the original but still my twist to it. 4 years ago is when I was just having fun and didn't intend to make it so important the way it is now. It is my job to make it the way it was supposed to be. I hate so much Reillumination since it completely disregards the original. So that's why I really wanted to make it back to life but still the original. I will change a lot now and explain things starting from - 12:40 - I will decide from my own if it's kept or not since I do remember adding this dialogue to help the player find the True Ending hint since if you try harder to find the hint the player will keep on talking to themselves. 12:50 - Will be Reverted. 12:55 - As I was writing this I already removed it and added the picture appearing once you go back. As this was an original secret if you go back more "HELLO"s appear. 12:59 - I will try my best to limit them and make them appear only due to certain requirements. Or remove them entirely. I already have an idea for this. 13:05 - that specific dead body is correlation with the True Ending so I cannot remove that one. 13:14 - (The text about blood) - You're right, and these were of course my very young self 4 years ago. Just adding blood because it was scary or cool. I will decrease the blood heavily. But I do want to point out the reason I added the blood at 12:13, if you go into the kitchen there is a note. When you read it, it will talk about the player and it has blood on the paper itself. So that little correlation that you missed and probably everyone else since it's so small. 13:14 - Not sure what you mean by this since I did know that was the original intent. So I did make it a mystery in different parts if the monster does kill you or not. 13:40 - I already explained this part from above, but I will do many changes to this. 1. Remove the monster sound. 2. Make the window a lot smaller. 3. Make it far. 4. Not as soon as the phone guy says "Look around more". 13:56 - The reason this was added was since that theme WAS not used at all in my version. Since I never added a menu in my version 4 years ago. You can even see this being true if you read the description of my "Light Bulb Reimagined 12/10/19" archive in the game's extra. Stating there was not even a menu. I did think it fit in since things change when you do collect the key but I understand where you're coming from with it being a "menu theme". I'm telling you man, I had no scripting knowledge and just did readjusting of monsters or adding things. Barely any scripting lmaoo. 14:20 - Again, bad choice but when I didn't care and wanted to have fun with things. Not much to explain here. Will be reverted no questions asked. 14:35 - I like how you did notice it being thicken. Not many players called that out. It is STILL possible to skip it since that was my intention as well. Just made harder since you are at the end of the game you can skip two cutscenes. I'm sure if you think about it more you would agree on my decision here. So that will not be changed. I liked how you didn't mention the window being bigger from the original I noticed. I would for sure know you would complain about it. I will change the window size to it being smaller but not as small as the original. 14:42 - Like I said before... I had no knowledge of any coding and was just having fun. Changing the color was cool and so simple to do without breaking the game lmaoo. You are right though, I did do it to make it scarier. I do have a valid reason though, you see the same monster two times in the beginning with white eyes. Since this is the end the monster is being more agitated so it's red. It's also to show it's the same monster peaking during the final phone call. I think I will still leave this change with my reasoning and I hope you can see through my reason why it's red now. Not only just to make it scarier. 14:45 - No scripting knowledge so I just copy and pasted it to have fun... With all those shelves falling. Though some are important, some fall and it will trigger a cutscene or a secret. Though I don't think I will change many of these. I do have an idea, make some of the shelves fall randomly during each session so it won't come off as obvious. I had no idea how to script RNG things so... 14:49 - Thank you. 15:03 - There was always 3 levers, not sure what you're on about here. 15:20 - Yes, you are right about the overuse of it and I will tone it down. Or depending on certain actions it will appear, like finding secrets. 15:23 - Again, just was having fun 4 years and it was extremely easy to script that. Just turn Achored part off with 1 line of code lmaoo. I will change it maybe... Since my original intent from this was to tell the player that you still aren't safe. 15:30 - It's just a secret. One of my first that is since it's just a still block with the decal. No scripting required. There's A LOT of secrets in this game that you never even talked about. I really do like the secrets since it does tell the story more about the lore. Sucks you didn't catch on to that. That's where the suspense comes in. You can play the game without any secrets or go deeper... These secrets can be as simple as like this monster just staring at you. Or some new cutscene with new things happening. 15:43 - IMPORTANT. Man I really hate how you didn't even try it, I wouldn't blame you with all the criticism you gave. So you didn't expect much from it. The True Ending definitely explains the lore more and not stupid things from 2019 of my foolish mind just wanting to have fun. 15:50 - Very disappointed since there's a very big reason why he goes crazy, I'm starting to believe you don't really understand the lore itself fully or at all. I didn't just get it since it's in the inventory. I thought about it so much on to why the original had it removed. If you got the special ending you would really understand everything... 15:57 - With all the criticism I don't blame you for thinking that. Now it's to make sense that it was 4 years ago and I just wanted to have fun putting decals and things everywhere. Really making me look bad... Don't worry all will be modified. I just cared about the True Ending and the special True Ending after all those things were left in the game. 16:05 - Wish you would at least give it try with disregard of all the criticism and trying to understand the lore more. It sounds like you've came to really hate my game with all those things being said, so you wouldn't care or really look at how I made the True Ending become. 16:16 - You're welcome. Like I had stated I did put things everywhere such as images since that was THE easiest thing to do, I was just having fun with the game. - End

(I had to make a new comment since max length was 10,000 characters...) I do want to apologize since I really made you think these things I put in the game was in serious intent. I just forgot and completely didn't think about my old updates on how they would impact it today. It certainly impacted you in a way to hate it. If you thought that, others for sure. You truly made such good criticism that I will take into account for all this and reconsider these very old changes. So I thank you for making this video. As much as I hate you not really giving me a chance with the true ending or other elements that make it good. Or you straight up giving reasons why I did things when it wasn't true. I still thank you heavily. I've been writing this for 2 hours now. It's 7/11/23, 4:30AM right now, I will do all the changes tomorrow morning. I already updated the game and changed the beginning since that was the easiest to fix. I hope I can make you play the game again and be happy. Make you come realize it's much deeper than you think. It's much more love towards the original. I hope I can make you come to realize why these changes were made. Why certain things were decided. I hope I can make you understand more and realize I really do love Light Bulb. Thank you for reading all of this. Like hey man I'm only ONE guy working on the game. It's quite surprising how these remakes did not seem to do much homework on Light Bulb. I think it'll be better to list them down for convenience. 1. The Monster is Not Methodical The original's Hide and Seeker was methodical in a way that the encounters relied on it getting the drop on you and playing with your expectations while you had little to no clue. The first encounter with it had it rely on it getting the drop on you from turning on the lights, then rushing at you while you were scrambling for the locker. The shelf encounter had it rely on your curiosity to see the paper, with the paper being a vague tip of a banging door, but otherwise with little context. The trapped phone also used your curiosity with an extra fact you were accustomed to the sense of security of the phone calls. Lastly, the fake phone guy encounters had it attempt to give you false information for the bad ending, relying on abruptly cutting the real phone guy to give a sense the real one was a fake and was keeping the 'real' one hostage. Also, note how it does not seem to give the player a warning or try to taunt them with the environment, which induces paranoia of it coming to attack you. Also also, the moments where you see it is quite rare, but even then, they're 'blink and you'll miss it' moments, or the monster is watching from a spot where it isn't as obvious. Reimagined's monster looks more of killer taunting investigators since you can see random smiley faces and gore, ruining the paranoia and mundane horror effect. The moments where it peeks at you is more obvious, giving the player more of it to look at what it looks like, which makes them less intimidated by its design and behaviour. Reilluminated ruins the shelf encounter by making its calling card more obvious in that it had baited you via the text on it. Meanwhile, the puzzle encounters make its behaviour clear and predictable to those familiar with them, while for newcomers, it becomes a frustrating ragefest of "Do something, die, and repeat". I shouldn't forget to mention that those puzzles weren't bright of it anyway. 2. The Remakes Do Not Rely on Mundane Horror Yes, nothing is scarier, but Light Bulb combined this with mundane aspects to further drive the horror. Dark rooms rely on both nothing is scarier since there's no light to see inside them, while also combining mundane aspects of dark rooms being something people see in everyday life. Most of the rooms seen in Light Bulb look normal at first glance, but take a look at how they mesh with each other, and they feel off and more like a maze. The rooms also usually don't have anything significant in them, making them look a bit too empty and therefore surreal. The encounters are usually grounded to reality and don't rely on anything fancy, further selling on the the mundane aspect. Reimagined adds corpses and blood and whatnot, giving the rooms something to make them complete, which ruins the empty part. Some of the rooms happen to be maze sections when the player first sees them, so they know they're in a maze section at first glance which leaves more for the player to know without a second look. There's also the visual and sound effects it uses which I suppose were used to enhance the horror, but these instead detract from the mundane aspect. Reilluminated at least mostly adhered to what Light Bulb did in terms of room design, but also uses visual and sound effects that instead detract from the mundane part. The puzzle encounters felt more of a hazard than an actual tense situation, since the puzzles felt more in line with game logic rather than a tense situation grounded to reality. I think there's more that I missed, but these two stuck out to me the most when the games failed to do their homework. TL:DR: The remakes were lacking Light Bulb's horror aspects, namely a methodical monster and a lack of mundane horror. Edit: I decided to update this comment to include a tl:dr, fixing a few grammar mistakes, and some grammatical restructuring.

You know what would be cool? If we had a roblox horror game that actually fleshes out the monster instead of it just being out to get you like every other roblox horror game. Why can't it be like a cosmic horror like threat where the sky itself is the monster and you need to traverse through a map while avoiding seeing it as much as possible. What if the monster had a goal of its own aside from killing you like getting to a more populated area, but given its low intelligence you could lure it further away from its goal or actually help it out. What if the goal of the game was to TAME the monster, like I once heard that the most interesting thing the xenomorphs of the aliens franchise did in the first film that they did in no other was do nothing, as they were animals by nature and simply needed food and to thrive. It's something that not a lot of horror media seems to understand with more natural antagonists, these are animals which have their own needs. Like imagine on the first day you just watch the monster and you have to be slow and quiet as to not make yourself look threatening, like doing birdwatching except with a demon. On the second you have to find a way to feed it. On the third, try to get closer to it without dying. And so on and so forth until you have made it non aggressive to humans and its ready to be analyzed. Seriously there are so many ways that you could flip the script of "You are in an unfamiliar environment with a monster that wants to kill you, hide in vents or lockers to be safe, find keys, escape" but that would mean taking a risk, so we just get the same old monster A.I's. I think this is mostly due to roblox being for younger kids, and kids can't exactly comprehend cosmic horror or having to sit down, listen, and pay attention to get to the good part. That's reflective in a lot of roblox, and even horror games/media in general, where the focus is not the strange fog and emptiness, but the idea that there's a big monster in the fog. I mean look at backrooms, it was abstract and unnerving, but that doesn't make for a good game or hour long video dissecting it so there needs to be a bunch of big spooky monsters running around for kids to actively look for instead of avoid. And that philosophy is everywhere in roblox horror. I guess what I'm saying is roblox devs should take more risks, especially smaller or younger developers in horror, as there's no shame in falling on your face with your first few projects, and there's no risk of losing tons of money due to roblox's pathetic dev ex rates, because you know YOU AREN'T MAKING ANYTHING FROM YOUR GAME AND YOU HAVE NO ONE TO DISSAPOINT. So yeah thanks for coming to my ted talk lol. I'll certainly check out the game soon enough, thanks for another engaging video I can ramble in the comments of.

Light Bulb was the most memorable for me because of the atmosphere and it's uniqueness, playing reillumination really didn't feel like the original and I haven't even touched reimagined after seeing how bad of an approach they took. Gotta say your video is great and sums up everything with how the remakes just butchered the concept and swept the original's content, it more or less feels like they were made to be their own versions of Light Bulb instead of actual remakes. And it sucks to see because Light Bulb's concept has a lot of potential and people just decide to throw it out of the window for the sake of making a 'scary game'.

Reillumination actually DOES have a story. In the good/true ending route, when you escape the simulation, there’s a notebook towards the left of the door you’d normally go through to leave the “control room”, it explains basically (almost) everything you have questions about. There’s also secret notes inside the game that expands on the game’s lore If you don’t want to go in the game and find out for yourself, I’ll explain it here (SPOILER WARNING) The notebook itself was left by an employee of the company who created the simulation. Apparently “Temnota” served as a program designed to help people inside the simulation with their mental health (basically therapy of some sort. Don’t know why they would use a scary dark creature to do it but I won’t question it). However, one day, Temnota basically went crazy and began killing the subjects. Ever since this incident, the company decided to abandon the project altogether, leaving the simulation on and abandoning the people still inside it. Apparently, the simulation was implied to also help with physical health as well. When the nukes went off (as shown in the player’s flashback, also prior to Temnota going crazy) the company rushed to get as many people in the simulation as possible to help them survive the nukes and to treat their injuries. This is where the player’s story comes in. According to the notebook, the player was already dead when they (the company) found them, but somehow came back to life thanks to the simulation. Unfortunately, when the player finally woke up, Temnota had already gone on its stalking and killing spree. When the player finally escapes the simulation, they realize that Temnota had somehow followed them out of the simulation, and now they’re faced with two decisions. Decision 1 (*”Good” Ending*) - Leave the simulation on, sparing the people inside and giving them a chance to escape, but also allowing Temnota to follow you out of the simulation and into the real world. Decision 2 (*True Ending*) - Shutdown the simulation, killing everyone still inside, but also shutting down/killing Temnota. (Not trying to defend reillumination, just thought I’d fill you in on some of the story that you missed. This is also a rough summary of the entire game’s lore, so there may be some speculations or inaccuracies, so I suggest finding the notebooks yourself for a more accurate version of the story)

I was saddened when the Roblox updates broke it. I found Reimagined to be a pretty good remake by adding a bunch of new aspects, such as the new endings, lore, and monster encounters. Erie555 even friended me so I could find the last ending (that was a struggle). Looking back, it does feel like he inserted anything that could fit into the game. I didn't care/know about subtlety so it didn't affect me. Couldn't say the same thing about Reillumination, reinforced by your points. Puffo redid the art but took everything else out. The open-ended lore without leads is also stupid and lazy.

i really love how you touched up on this old gem of a horror game. it truly went under the radar for the longest time recognition wise so i'm glad it's finally getting the love it deserves. i thought i should mention something, though 😭. i absolutely love how well-written your script is, but, i find it hard to focus since there's so many meme pop-ups and sound effects left and right, covering up my screen. i had to turn on captions yet even then i couldn't hear the video nor could i be immersed in it. the memes are pretty funny but as a lighthearted suggestion, maybe you could tone it down later on with future videos? this isn't a demand but i think it would help the viewers focus on all of the other wonderful aspects like your script and the actual narrative of it all. still earned a new sub nonetheless. i look forward to other pieces of content you make! there's obviously a lot of effort placed into these videos. take care. :-)

It was really exciting to play reillumination on release since it was a remake of what is a broken and outdated game after all. Although looking back I definitely see how reillumination gives a completely different vibe from it's original which can lessen some of the enjoyment. For me, reillumination slowly turned to be more of a rage game than it was horror (as I particularly remember struggling on the puzzle with the rooms flickering in a rotation) but maybe that was just me being dumb. Anyways I really liked your analysis of various moments, such as how the hallway sections in both games differ and proves reillumination to be a bit lackluster. Hopefully we get more remakes out of old roblox horrors in the future like RED44SATYR44 but don't fall victim to becoming too separated from their originals.

my memory isint great but i remember playing this old roblox game where the monster design actually confused and scared me, horror wasnt the main theme though. I remember exiting a crashed spaceship, not sure if the terrain was made from the stamp tool. It was dark outside i think this was when dynamic lighting was added. The monster was very detailed, completely black body, tall, spikes protruding from most of its body, faceless. It was a well made game but it barely had any players. Genuinely confusing and scary monster. I also remember an amazing but broken xenomorph game where you had to rescue civilians in a colony, escort them to the surface and drive away in an apc. Xenos would enter from the celling and u could see where they would spawn from the acid dripping above. U had to rescue npcs before xenos spawned in their room, you could use a blowtorch or a keycard to open doors, there were rooms with different utilities such as armories or medbays. There were turrets at the exit elevator to the apc that could be powered and defend you from xenos. Amazing game.

Hey, as someone who hyperfixated on this game for years after its release and played it religiously, I'd like to inform you that the spirit seen exiting the sewers at the end of the game is actually the other guy in the simulation, and not the hide and seeker. His simulation pod never opens, and its implied that he didn't make it out alive. Furthermore, the decal is literally named "Ghost Boy"

I had an idea for a video I thought you'd like: Why Apocalypse Rising 2 failed to live up to AR1. When it became free and I first played it I remember how disappointment I was with the aesthetic of the game, it basically went from being Dayz/7 days to die to Unturned. The guns feel super weak compared to AR1, there's no tension or anything when you're getting shot at because every bullet does like 11 damage, compared to 4-5 shots being able to put you down in the original game. The physics (and meele) are glitchy and there's no plot to speak of, and it doesn't look like the game is gonna change for the better anytime soon with how slow updates are.

The best part of this game is that the monster knows you’re afraid. He also knows exactly where you’re hiding. He’s looking at you in the locker, he reaches his hands up but then stops raising them up, stalks you, this monster has a better personality then a literal Jojo character, a monster, that messes with you instead of hunting with you, no wonder this is psychological thriller.

Honestly I remember playing Roblox horror games quite a bit 6-8 (9?) years ago when I just kept trying to find fun horror games to try. Like Murder Mystery 2 and Vampire Hunters 2 were my go to games at the time (Now Flood Escape 2 cause I love games with 2 in the end) and horror games I liked to try when I did noy try those 2, dont know If I played light bulb, because I dont really remember many things from that era of me playing roblox, but I do remember playing a game called Alone More-Story (Favorite concept of a Roblox horror game honestly) during that time so its possible I played Light-Bulb but anyways yeah I got to love how the game was made with care, the creator was determined to make a good game and they succeeded yeah sure its outdated and a bit broken but just revamp it (dont change the story and add unnecessary details please) and your good. I could say the same for many roblox horror games from 2014-2016 like Alone More-Story (game where your the last person alive on earth) but yeah I like Lightbulbs idea of gameplay and its style, also love how difficulty was not priority but rather the gameplay so maybe I will try Light Bulb (again?) soon.

As a light bulb enthusiast, I can confirm. I very much agree with this video. However, I used to know the creator and his entire team for a while, and they have to be some of the driest, biggest assholes of any roblox creators i've met so far, way back when they still had a discord server. The creator himself is fine, he's chill, but everyone else in the dev team was pretty terrible. I think they've just aged overtime, and I personally had a negative experience overall getting to know these people. Never meet your heroes. Thus being said, I don't feel like I can complete this video, for some odd reason. Cool game, rude people behind it. Reminds me of the Friends.exe community. Edit: I was wrong, it was the creator and developers of Light Bulb Reimagined: *NEW* or whatever. Fuck those guys.
