@Spilledmilkshakes I am not doing the lighting manually I am using the GEMBIRD SIS-PM PowerShield you can find the link and more information about the lighting installation on my blog. Just google the following term "light-design-for-my-dessert-terrarium" and select the blog entry not youtube.

It appears you have real succulents in your terrarium. Have you found that they are happy with the lighting? I am interested in creating a desert terrarium for copiapoa species cactus. A common problem with cactus is etoliation(strange new growth) if they do not have enough light. I am wondering what an adequate light system would be.

A masterpiece! Truly...this is my dream come true enclosure for our two babies (1 for each!). (Do you sell these? or would you?) I adore the daylight simulation cycles, and the moonlight simulation is a really nice touch! Amazing! I have so many questions, I'm off to your blog to learn more. Thank you!

BeardedDragonsInfo :) Oops sorry for the confusion, I meant do you sell these amazing enclosures? I would want one of these enclosures for each of our beardies. (We already have two baby beardies). Our babies are super tiny so sharing an 40 gal. enclosure for now, but we plan to separate them in the future when they get bigger. We are new to this, these are our first bearded dragons and we are having so much fun caring for them and watching them grow.

@propergait You are right there are 2 real succelents in my terrarium. and they even produced wonderfull flowers out, so I assume they are happy with the lighting installation I have made. :-) If you look to the attached video response you will find my video about the lighting. Alternative you can also take a look to my blog where I have documented the different lights and the lighting times. beardeddragonsinfo.blogspot.com/2011/08/light-design-for-my-dessert-terrarium.html

The light design for your dessert vivarium is very important for a healthy bearded dragon but also for the plants that you might have. My vivarium stands in our living room so there is a design aspect as well as I really enjoy looking at it day and night.

How much energy per month does the light simulation run ? This is amazing .

It is a long time ago I have planned and built my terrarium. Please take a look to my blog where I a specified my lights I used. beardeddragonsinfo.blogspot.co.at/2011/07/adding-electric-for-my-dessert.html The most expensive ones (from an electric standpoint) are the 70W lamps but they are running around 4 hours per day only. Sry, but i cannot tell you exactly how much per month.
