I got to meet Mr Foster at a banquet I catered in Albuquerque. When I noticed him I had to get a closer look and when I saw his huge hands I was sure this was Bob Foster former light heavy weight champ in the time of some very great fighters. Although he was in his twilight years he had great presence and when I shook his hand it was comical the difference of his hand to mine. His wife thanked me for dinner and asked how a young asian woman come to know of him. My father was a boxing fan and took me to a championship fight when I was 11. It was my honor and privilege to meet him that day.

Wrong, Sir Ezzard Charles then the late great Archie Moore. But Foster is for sure in the top 3 I still would’ve loved to see him fair against the LHW of the 80s. Saad Muhammad, Dwight Qawi, Spinks, Mustafa, Johnson, Lopez

Bob Foster came to South Africa to defend his championship against our Pierre Fourie and won us over. He hit the speedball so hard one day, it broke off the hinge and went flying through the air. I believe the purse he was paid for defending in SA was the highest purse he ever earned, including his fights against Frazier and Ali. RIP Champ.

My family lived in Washington, D.C. His nearby in Maryland. When Uncle Bobby moved to Albuquerque, my family moved there after. Eventually his house and ours were nearby. Our families spent a lot of time together.

+Slick Show our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. It was truly an honor to be able to interview him in this video. Do you still live in Albuquerque?

No...I left in 1976. On one trip from D.C. to Tucson I was able to stop and see him...it may have been around 1980. I haven't been able to get back to Albuquerque since.

Archie Moore, Bob Fitzsimmons, and Bob Foster my pick for the "greatest" light heavyweights of all time. I got the privilege of seeing Bob fight in my teenage years. Bob was a genuine light heavy and dominated the competition in his weight class. When he won the title from Dick Tiger, a devastating left hook in the 4th round brought Bob the light heavyweight championship that he defended 14-separate times before retiring as Champ. I saw flip clips of his fights with Dick Tiger, Zora Folley, Joe Frazier, and Ali during my youth. A tall, lanky man, with a left hook on the level of Joe Frazier, that put many fighters to sleep in Bob's career. Great fighter, and a top "3" greatest light heavy of all time!
