Because he's a Green lantern, yes, but he is more of a Red lantern because his entire thing is he has so much rage and at this point Izuku should be more either a yellow or red because green does fit him but it makes more sense for the other too.

There are men who got 1/5 or 1/10 of what he got and yet they have done terrible things in society and even in his world. And you're giving him this bad of a hand. But you still wanted me a righteous being unless you're going to make him someone like Guy Gardner. It makes no sense

That's how Izuku is in the anime. No matter how much Bakugo abuses him, he stays positive. He's not supposed to be normal. That said, I do think that the story would be better if he had the Red ring and took revenge on everyone who hurt him before finally overcoming the rage and learning to channel it to help people. Or maybe the Orange ring, and have his greed run rampant, taking everything away from the ones who hurt him and ruin their lives. Or have him fall in love witb a girl who was kind to him despite discovering he's quirkless and get the Violet ring. The girl could be obsessed with heroes, so he does everything he can to become the #1 hero, and only she knows his true identity. Ultimately, I think this story could be written with the same beginning but with a different triggering event that has him receive a different ring. A whole series could be made with him getting each of the seven rings.
