Light Pillar Phenomenon Captured Near Jamestown

We live in Evergreen CO and have pictures and a video of the exact same thing. It appeared in the morning on February 11, 2013, but it was spinning. Looked like millions of tiny ice crystals spinning and the light went upwards from it toward the sun. There was snow on the ground but it was not snowing at the time. The video is also on KZbin.

I saw these in South Carolina on a summer morning once. Thousands of them. Looked like light poles coming from the sky to the ground. Lasted for about 4 minutes and then vanished
