Who'd have thought barn doors could be interesting? Excellent video. Thank you.

There's something that I really enjoy about the production and edit of this video... especially the man in the video and the way he talks and describes the use of barn doors. Can I catch a beer with you in Germany? :)

Oh my! I was thinking the same exact thing. It looks like an awesome crime documentary on the ID Channel!

I was thinking the same thing. I was caught way off guard as soon as the video started with how professional it looked. Like a documentary :)

This is very interesting, but I can find indication as to whether I can use them with my current lights.

When you buy one of the fixtures , you define which kind of barn doors you need with the product

I was just wondering if a soft felt material would work on the inside of the metal barn door frame to absorb some of the light output of the lamp. Flammable might be a concern but not of course for the DLED family.

+Avidcomp Dear Avidcomp. Using soft felt material on the inside of the barn doors - Yes, that would work, but it would get too hot and burn up, it would crumple and get brittle. At least that is what I would fear. There are materials that are flame resistant. But then, it is usual practice to put such soft black material onto larger frames and place them at a considerable distance from the light source. That seems to work very well. The flags or gobos, or whatever they may be called. That seems to be standard practice. With our new barn door, with the structured inside of the large barn door leaves I am very happy. That seems to do the job very well and it will not raise costs very much. I also had some other experiments many years ago, trying to work with curved surfaces on the barn doors to contain the reflexes that are caused by the barn door leaves, but that never came to any really useful results. It was too big, too cumbersome and not really effective enough. That is the short answer that I can give you now. Best regards, Dedo Weigert

Thank you Dedo. Very good and clear answer.

@@DedoweigertfilmDe I would be using them for flash photography, not with continuous lighting. Surely in my case, there would be no problem?

I assume you need a pretty focused light to do this. I have a project this is perfect for. Can you share what light you are using? Thanks.

The barn doors in this video may be used on a dedolight DLH4 (150W tungsten halogen), DLED4 (40W LED) or DLED7 (90W LED) light head.
