I don't know why, but I love the ' I promise, I'll do better ' part so much. It's my favorite part of the whole song. (This is just for me to vent out some frustration, you can ignore me if you’d like. I’m not looking for a pity party, I just want to get this out of my head and to you.) My home was destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. I remember waking up early in the morning and peeking over the side of my bed, seeing a glassy sheet of water covering the floors. All of my valuables, everything I had ever lived with, it was all gone. All of it was just floating there, soaking in the water and washing away. The banging noises of doors opening and closing from the force of the water sloshing around, I can still remember the movement of the water as you walked through it. My mom and dad were stacking things up on top of beds and cabinets, in hopes to save them. Our house wasn’t supposed to flood - we had built it two feet above the last flood level. This wasn’t supposed to happen - I think that was what made it even more devastating. It was like something broke in me, watching my home filled up like a fish tank. I was so upset, I couldn’t even cry. And when I couldn’t cry, I felt even more upset. I wanted to find comfort somewhere - I needed comfort and reassuring more than anything right then. This song had nothing to do with the flood, but I had always listened to it, for it was one of my favorites. I listened to it, just staring at the screen. I cried, I admit it, I cried enough to fill our house up again. I’ve always been emotionally influenced by music, and the way things were going right now, I just snapped and let the floodgates go. It’s been a long time since the flood happened, and we’re just about finished repairing our house. I wish I could’ve told myself back then that it would be okay, but at this moment I only had this song to comfort me. Now I cry every time I hear it, it’s just too painful for little crybaby me. You don’t have to give me a like or pity, I just wanted to get this off my chest.

I don't consider you a crybaby. If you're that, then I'd be the weakest human alive in that situation. I would've screamed my throat raw, wailed, probably punch things in anger, and maybe even stab myself to prove it's not a dream (trust me, I've actually considered doing this kinda thing when my dad got hit by a truck). My worst nightmare is either my house flooding too quickly for anything (or anybody) to be saved, or burning rapidly. I can't image what that was like, as I live in Washington. There's nothing I can say except that I, too, am emotionally influenced by music and that I'm sorry for what happened. I hope that vent helped.

Instead of making me thinking about the kids I will never this song makes me think of my younger brother and all we have been through. I was 4 when he was born and right then I grew up, taking on the task of rasing a child.
