As someone who was trained in color analysis a decade ago, and back then got into Kibbe's style types and a whole ton of other stuff - this information is absolutely invaluable. It makes shopping for makeup and clothing incredibly easy. And the more you know yourself, the more you can learn how to broaden your style or seasonal type (if you want to) in a way that will still look beautiful. It doesn't need to be boring, but having this foundational knowledge is absolutely essential.

Since learning about seasonal colour analysis, it feels like I am learning about colour for the first time, and it all makes so much more sense! For this series, I have been doing my best with online resources to compile advice for all different skin tones, but in the future, I would love to take a proper course as I think it is so fascinating and helpful. Through seasonal colour analysis, I’ve stumbled on Kibbe’s style types, and that is something else that fascinated me, but finding articles about style/body typing for men has been a little difficult; however, based on what I have seen, I believe I fall into the soft natural type. It’s definitely a bit of a forced effort for me to choose colors in the pallet because I’ve always thought earth tones were what I should choose so I’m relearning what to gravitate towards 😂 I’m learning still about the contrast we have as well and how to do the makeup to enhance that, so much to learn but I’m so happy for resources like yours! I want to cry. Happy tears!! Where have you been all my life, like literally!! I never had anyone available to teach me how to do my own make up so for 20+ years I was lost in the cosmetic aisles and counters. Learning online helped to a degree but clearly I was following those with wildly different colourings to my own. I’m a Light Spring, but I can wear a lot of Light Summer colors (almost all the clear ones, and just a muted color or two, like dusty rose. I’ve heard the same, from a lot of other redheads (I’m a light strawberry blonde). I can so relate to your joy, in finding your season. As a sister Light season, I was also excited to find out why most of the clothes I liked, in the store, didn’t work on me. Most clothes ARE way too dark! Now that I know what to look for, I’m finding so many things! It takes a lot of practice, I think! I’ve found that most clothes I see online are darker than they look in the ads, due to the bright lighting. When I receive items I order, they are often too dark on me, even though they virtually draped perfectly, when I placed the ad photo next to mine. Now, when I see a dress or top in a color I like, online, I try to go a shade lighter. If they don’t have one, I look for a different item, a shade lighter. That has really helped me!

Thank you so much! MAC Creme Cup was recently reformulated, so sadly, this exact shade is no longer available, but other shades that create a similar effect for light summers that I would suggest are - L’Oreal Colour Riche in 135 Ballerina Shoes and Maybelline Color Sensational in 015 Born With It (both are slightly sheer pink with a trace of shine!) - Huda Beauty Power Bullet Cream Glow Lipstick in Angel or Bobbi Brown Luxe Lipstick in Pale Mauve (these shades are more of a peach-pink that sit between light spring and light summer, but the formula is quite similar to the MAC Cremesheem in Creme Cup I used in this video) I also have three videos on my channel about all of my summer colour palette lipsticks called “Cool Tone ___ Lipstick Collection.” There are videos for sheer/glossy finish, matte/cream finish, and lip tints/glosses! Hello Yvonne! I don't have any physical swatches for light summer, but I have a swatch book for Soft Summer I purchased from 30somethingurbangirl.com, and the quality is lovely! When I did an online colour analysis with Bonnie Style on Etsy, they included a wonderful digital colour palette I love to compare online. I have also seen some fabric swatch books on Etsy that look great, but I haven't tried them. As I have gotten more familiar with my best colours, I will take with me a lip colour that works well for me and us it as a reference swatch in-store - this has been the most helpful tip as you can see if a stain has more of light summers white tints or soft summers grey shades and doing that helps to zone in on your best colours! I have always been a natural nude type of girl but I have been actually loving trying all the cool toned looks and I was absolutely shocked that they looked good lol!

I love the cool winter palette, but I can see where they can feel stark or shocking compared to a natural nude look. You might love the following video in the series, which is cool/true summer. You could use softer, muted, cool neutrals and pair them with a slightly brighter blush/lip or the winter staple black eyeliner to feel the most harmonious with your colour palette. That video should be out the first Saturday of December, and in the new year, I will be creating more looks for the winter seasons. Thank you for the wonderful comment!

Yeah I get stuck between whether In a true summer or a true winter I probably should get professionally draped lol it's just weird because some of the true summer colors wash me out but then some of the true winter colors are too much so maybe I'm just in between or something. I have no idea my color season. I have light auburn or dark strawberry blonde hair, green/ yellow eyes. I think my skin is cool toned, but my mother said I’m olive (and she was a GENIUS). My favorite shirts are olive green and a rosy lavender. It’s so confusing. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you for sharing your colour, as it got my mental gears turning! Olive skin tones are fascinating because they can be warm or cool in undertones. The olive green and rosy lavender initially make me think of soft autumn based on my mental interpretation of those shades. Drew Barrymore is one of the first examples I think of when i think of a strawberry blonde, soft autumn. Without seeing how your complexion looks against various shades, it is hard to tell what colour season you would fall into. If you want to take an educated guess at your colour season, I will start by looking at the colours that make you feel the happiest and confident when you wear them (mine in pastel blue, which is in the summer season🤣) and then the colour you find the most challenging (mine is orange, especially the rusty shades, which is sad because I think they are gorgeous! - autumn seasonal palette) and then compare those two colours against the four primary seasonal colour palette. This is not going to act as a concrete colour analysis session, but I feel our intuition can help to get us going in the right direction! I do not look good with mascara on my lashes. It looks aggressive and clown like. I have medium blonde hair. Both ash and some gold in my hair. Eyes are very blue, but not very bright. Skin is neautral to warm. Cool undertone foundation look pink on me. You think I’m a light summer or light spring? Is it normal to not look good with mascara when you are light summer?

Mascara can be such a tricky makeup product to find! For light spring and light summer, I feel like anything too thick or clumpy can overwhelm the eye area. I have had excellent luck with some Korean Mascara, like the Mude Length Mascara, and Mude’s brown shade is more of a neutral red-brown, so it is lovely for those with soft features! Unfortunately, without draping, finding your best seasonal colour palette can be tricky, but based on your description, I agree that you would fall between light spring and summer! Since these neighbouring seasons can overlap quite a bit, have fun playing with different shades from the two palettes. When I had my seasonal colour analysis done, I was typed as a light summer, but my natural hair colour pushed my overall appearance towards a cool summer. As I’ve begun to get some greys and lighten my overall hair colour, I have had so much fun dabbling into the light spring blushers! In other seasonal colour systems with an even more expansive selection, there is a palette called light, and it is perfect for those who feel like they are in between light summer and light spring. @@ZeeDooleyThank you!✨💕 I feel it is very tricky indeed😅 I am fair, but not very fair. I do suit a little pigmented colours, too light and cool washes me out. I think I feel more comfertable with a «no makeup makeup look» It makes me look more fresh and awake. Mascara, just overpowers me, and it does not work. I have tried brown mascara, but still too harsh. Maybe grey would have worked or a veryyy light brownish/grey. I have yet to find that where I live tough. Thank you 💕
