Man, I live like 10 min from the Chesapeake, and you guys are teaching me that I need a boat. Now to get the wife on board…

Tell her it's necessary for your mental health! haha! The nice thing is there is lots you can explore with just a kayak or a small boat, you just have to pick your days when the weather is right.

I've literally lost track of the amount of fish brought in the boat... SHEESH. Talk about fishing out of a barrel. I don't think I could be any more pumped for May on the Potomac to return after watching this vid.

It was a day for the book! Crazy thing is I had to cut a lot of catches out of the video haha. Thanks for watching! Glad we could help you get through the winter. Good luck out there on the Potomac!

Where were you guys fishing? I’m assuming middle bay. Just curious
@FishingHoller Жыл бұрын
We did a good bit of moving around, but generally out of the mouth of the Choptank and the surrounding areas. Gotta keep moving to hopefully come across the bigger fish. Cruising channel edges looking for birds and keeping an eye on the finder. Finding good current was definitely key. Thanks for watching!

There are in the winter. They migrate in, spawn around April then head back out and up north. Check out my most recent video we got into some just the other day! Thanks for watching.

What size jig head were you guys using? Thanks. Killer video.
@FishingHoller Жыл бұрын
I was mostly using a 1oz jig or a 3/4oz jig. I think my buddy was even getting away with 1/2oz. It was a rather calm day and we weren't fishing too deep. Fishing deeper or in wind sometimes we jump up to 1-1/2oz or even 2oz to be able to keep it contact with it in the strike zone. Biggest thing we have found is using whatever keeps you in that strike zone the longest while still providing plenty of sensitivity so you don't miss a hit. That can vary depending on depth, wind, currant, if the fish are suspended or on bottom, and even the lure you use. I can try to go into more detail in a future video if that would be helpful. Or if you have further questions don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for watching!

Catch the fishes to eat, not to mutilate and torture them and throw them back into the water. How do you know they will survive after that? Do you think you would? Chill with the dumb stuff.
@FishingHoller Жыл бұрын
I respect your concern for the fish, but they have infinitely higher chance of survival if released verses put in a frying pan. We care about and respect these fish as much as anyone. It is rare to hook a fish in a fatal way with the technique we use. This way we can release them so they can continue to grow and reproduce to ensure the population continues for years to come. There are tagging studies that show the same fish being caught multiple times and still is able to reach maturity and be reproductively successful. Yes there are rare times where a fish may be injured and if that happens we keep them to eat if legally allowed. In the bay you are only legally allowed to keep one fish, or sometimes none at all. This is to make sure the population stays strong.

Well said Tom! Also, since we only caught one species of fish in this video, the correct plural noun to describe these beautiful fish is just fish. Fishes is used to describe more than one species 🤙
