Great design on the tissue box, I now have suitable wood that my laser will burn through. So I will give boxes a go now. But one thing Rich, as a woodworker I did cringe when you brought out a steel hammer to assemble the box, Please can I make a sugguestion and invest in a wooden or nylon hammer, as its alot kinder on the wood. Thats my 2 cents worth 🙂
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Жыл бұрын
It does no damage to the wood Ian. I'm not hitting it hard enough to make a dent. The reason why I use a small hammer.
@AramPerez Жыл бұрын
But most beginners won’t have your touch. A rubber (or leather) mallet would be better. Or use a piece of wood between the box and hammer.

Hey Rick, love your channel and I’ve learned so much as a result of watching and listening to your videos so it’s a big thank you from me. Can I add some notes to this subject of box making that might help some of your subscribers/watchers. If you pick ‘notes holder’ from the boxes drop-down menu, it already has the finger slot for access (I use these boxes resized for my coasters) For the file type selection, I use lbrn2 which if you select ‘generate’ rather than download, followed by a tap on the file after it’s downloaded will take it directly into the open Lightburn page. Same end result as your method but it saves a step by cutting out the need to bring it into Lightburn after saving it to your file folder. Thanks again for your help and advice, please keep it coming. Regards, Terry
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Жыл бұрын
Hi Terry! Thanks for the comments! I try to incorporate a lesson into all of my videos, that's why I didn't choose the Post-it notes file, but rather a box to show node editing. I prefer the SVG files because the Lightburn files change my layer settings. But thanks for the comments!

Hey Rich really appreciate all the knowledge you give and have been subscribed for a while, one quick question do you have an updated material list for the monport k40 my model does not have a power setting other than the ammeter, the one shown on the forum is a different control board than the one I have. Thank you in advance
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Жыл бұрын
They both work the same. You have to dial in the power on the ammeter so that when using Lightburn at 100%, the ammeter doesn't read more than 17 or 18 mA. Then you can use Lightburn up to 100% power. The old controller uses buttons and you have to add an ammeter, and the new one uses an onboard ammeter.

I have 2 finishes the customer could choose from George. One is 3 coats of plain Shellac and I scuff the final coat, and the other is a custom blend of beeswax pellets and cutting board oil (70/30) that I cook in a crockpot, poured into in a 4oz can, where it resolidifies. The wax/oil I sell separately as an upsell item for $6.00. Most folks chose the wax.

Rich, I noticed when you were designing your box in Boxes.pi you said you put in the inside measurements but you left the checkbox checked for Outside measurements. Have I misunderstood what that checkbox is for? I really like the video, but putting it into practice doesn't give the expected result. Maybe the solution is easy, but I cannot find it. I have downloaded the simple ABox in LRBN2, the cut on the bottom and two sides is correct (100.2mm as indicated in the settings), but the two other sides come out larger, i.e. 107.2mm.
