This is amazing, but next time, maybe include someone like Rachel Morrison? She definitely knows how to light a diverse cast. Would have loved seeing a Women talking here.

Truly amazing. Back in the old days this was always a challenge in advertising. "Throw more light at 'em. This is for TV!" It didn't't help that TV resolution and such sucked. It was a thing. And don't get me started on makeup.

Matthew Libatique spoke about Subrata Mitra, Cinematographer of Satyajit ray. He used the octaves to define the zone system. SA Re Ga MA Pa Da Ni Do Re Mi FA So La Ti Thus FA fell into the Middle zone i.e Equivalent to 18% Grey on a greyscale. DO and TI are extreme ends of the scale i.E Pitch black and Milky White respectively. RE-LA holds the textural range of the image. Thus an image has a various light level which can be divided into these seven values.
