Merry Christmas and best wishes for a happy new year. It must feel good to get back to working on your trees. That’s a swell gift from Bitterroot Bonsai. You can’t have too many gro-lights! I’m sure as you add more you’ll really see quite a difference in the vigor of your tropical bonsai. If you give them enough light and warmth you’ll be surprised how much they can grow during the cold gloomy winters. When I used to do interior plantscaping, I had some plants in my care that actually grew more in the winter because the office air conditioning was switched to heat and the plants got more sunlight due to the low angle of the sun. In the summer the light decreased. ~ The shots of your trees in the snowstorm were beautiful and really captured the spirit of the season. ~ I’m curious, how heavy are your heaviest bonsai?

Fantastic Nigel! Great Holiday episode with the beautiful snow falling on your trees. I like the larch images the best with the snow coming down. Nice new light. As much as we put indoors, it's amazing how dark it really is compared to that sun even under a deck of clouds.

Have you thought of putting a rubber ball in the rain barrel to keep it from freezing over? That will also give some give and take in the barrel so the ice does not expand to much in the barrel and crack the barrel. I found that out the hard way.

Merry Christmas from Ohio, where we are also having a white Christmas. I have two of those Relassie lights. I am growing cacti and succulents under them. The way I can tell that my plants like the lights is that many of my plants show red, orange, or purple pigmentation in sunlight and they show their colors under these lights even though the rack where they are gets no direct sunlight. I got them because, for what they give me, they are very low priced. If I had a plant room like yours, I would definitely consider this type of light tom light up the darker side of the room.
