My family rode this for the first time tonight. My 12 yr old brother had ridden it before, but my mom and other brother and I had not, and had NO idea what we were getting ourselves into. It was dark out when we got on and we didn’t realize there was a whole 3/4 of the coaster you can’t see from the bottom. Let me tell you somethin. I did not open my eyes or scream ONCE during this ride because I was so petrified with fear that I was limp and praying 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 my older brother and mom were traumatized. If you need to remember what it feels like to believe the good lord, I HIGHLY recommend riding this for the first time in the dark. Forgot I was raised religious till dolly reminded me by the grace of the lightning rod #shutupandpray

The same thing happened to me and my best friend lol. We got on at night got the first drop....... then quickly realized there was a much MUCH bigger drop coming after. It's the most fun I think I've ever had on a roller coaster. When we got off we were both teary-eyed from the wind and we looked like we came out of a tornado lol.

The fact that you think you're going to slowly climb the first hill and then you just accelerate hard, slow down and instantly hit an inverted drop is a truly terrifying feeling. Great ride!

Exactly what happened to us. I love coasters but my boyfriend is not a fan. We chose this as our first ride of the day. He were trying to ease into the big ones. We had no idea that was the fastest one there. He cursed and screamed from the moment we started up that hill. It worked out of because after this ride he had no issues getting on anything else. He just wouldn’t ride this one again. 🤣🤣🤣

@@wonderfulmuffinz254 it was my first coaster too I also didn't know launch coasters existed so I was pleasently surprised that I got launched up the hill and then I also blacked out except after the first sideways part my mom said the screaming just stopped and then I woke back up when the ride stopped. And then the next more major coaster I rode was the Fury and honestly I loved it. Edit: the fury is more recent as in about 2 months ago.

This video BARELY does this monster justice! Nothing like experiencing how fast this thing really is. The gravity is so intense that you can't think and have to catch your breath! I rode it yesterday and I'm still a little dizzy. Definitely did not expect it to be that crazy. There were two little kids sitting in front of me and I honestly think they didn't know what hit em! They were speechless and wild-eyed after.

I live here now and am a sp holder, I've have ridden this bad boy several times. I rode it during the "testing" phase. The seat restraints were different, and now she slows down right before you crest the peak. That was the fastest most intense ride of my life. Awesome coaster that must be experienced...period.

I adore roller coasts. I have been to Magic Mountain in California many times and is one of my favorite places. I have been on there scariest rides. Magic mountain coasters are nothing like Lightning Rod. I was scared and screamed the whole ride. 😮 super fun!!!!! Dollywood wins!!

I just got back from Dollywood and I was fortunate enough to get 3 straight night rides on it. I was worried because it was closed all day and it opened about 90 minutes before the park closed and I was over on Wild Eagle. I'm so glad it opened because it is one of the most fun coasters I've ever experienced, riding Lightning Rod at night in the cold when you can't see where you're going is pretty hard to beat.

My family did a two day here last month. This coaster is one that All coaster lovers have to experience. My family rode it four times on day one. The speed is absolutely exhilarating and those last four humps keep you out of your seat on on the restraints for the entire time.
