Serialization is cool! And serialization sucks. How can you seralize the massive amounts of data that ships with your game without killing your performance or memory? We don't want to give away the answer, but it's kinda in the title...

is it fair to say that comparing with protobufs is a bit apples vs. oranges? because protobufs yield mutable objects, whereas AFAICT flatbuffers are read-only. not that this isn't cool - it's still cool to have the OPTION - but just want to confirm my understanding.

I think they aren't read-only " The schema compiler can generate code to read and write FlatBuffers binary files"
