Of the four regional dungeons, this one was by far the best. It really did feel the closest to a more traditional Zelda dungeon. Even had sort of an Indiana Jones feel with the various traps, and how you just kept going "deeper" (or higher, really) into it. Probably should have been called "Light Temple" given there wasn't really all that much actual electric-based puzzles (like there was with Vah Naboris).
@dyltheisprod Жыл бұрын
Personally, I really felt the traditional dungeon itch with the Fire Temple. I know that’s controversial but by this point in the game I swore off using ascend and Tulin where it wasn’t necessary to break the puzzles. And when I forced myself to use the minecart puzzles, they proved to be a sort of “lock and key” puzzle box by which you needed to complete the right events in the right order to progress to the next terminal. I think it was perfect, honestly.
@frewtlewps1152 Жыл бұрын
I think some of the simpler puzzles in this dungeon, especially the first battery, could’ve used an electric current puzzle to make them more complex. It would make Riju’s Lightning ability even better.
@drygnfyre Жыл бұрын
@@frewtlewps1152 My suspicion is that since Vah Naboris from BotW used more electricity-based puzzles, the Lightning Temple used more light-and-mirrors puzzles to make it feel different. It's also more of a throwback to the Spirit Temple and how OoT also had light-based puzzles in the desert region.

this temple was incredible. it wasnt just a pyramid shaped dungeon, it really took its design from the Egyptian and Mesoamerican pyramids, with the step well design taken from India on the outside. the interior really reminded me of an Egyptian pyramid, specifically in the lower areas with the narrow chambers and steep staircases leading to more ceremonial chambers. It seemed similar to the queens burial chamber in the great pyramid at Giza.

This was the best Zelda of all time. People are quick to criticize this game but it had SOUL in it, unlike anything I've played since the early 90s and 2000s. Best Zelda of all time IMO.
@blues0311 ай бұрын
What impressed me most about the temple design is when I was flying around outside thinking I could get to a terminal that way, I saw Vah Naboris face decorations adorned into the "Brick" design, and some pastel colored camels on the walls too. I didn't expect to see such care and polish in an area most people wouldn't have cared to look.
@shame21897 ай бұрын
One battery remains is my favorite rendition of "Attack on Vah Naboris". It was already my favorite theme in BOTW, this just tops it completely. The ethereal vibe exuded by the singing gods (I presume) and the outstretched crescendo in just that one phase alone is nothing short of phenomenal.

While I long for the more linear style of dungeons, the Lightning Temple felt like a perfect balance between the linear and nonlinear formulas, which was what made it so good compared to the other dungeons in the game. If Nintendo can replicate the magic of the Lightning Temple in future Zelda games/DLC, I'll be quite happy.

The Construct Factory is actually really really cool if you stumble upon it by accident way earlier than the story does. Not to mention, the Factory and Pyramid are the only ones with actually somewhat challenging puzzle gauntlets... Although I gotta agree with Jack here, the Stormwind Ark is just too cinematic and fundamentally cool to not put as number one overall...
@jastahl Жыл бұрын
I also stumbled into the construct factory as my second “dungeon” and was thrilled by that experience. And I agree: stormwind ark isn’t just cinematic; it’s practically biblical. I’m not even religious but the sensation of starting at the previously known highest point in Hyrule, and ascending into heaven to reclaim a vessel that is portrayed as a savior of the Rito (and of course the score slaps) was incredible start to finish. It’s probably the most visible improvement on BotW, a great game in its own right.

Easily my favorite, this felt EXACTLY how a Zelda temple should feel! Like don't get me wrong, I was happy with the other ones too, but other than the Wind Temple, this one just radiated traditional dungeon atmosphere and puzzles that actually took some thought to figure out Like the actual path to enter inside made me feel like I was descending into dark depths that should be taken seriously. (In a way it reminded me of a mix of arbiter grounds from TP and the Shadow Temple from OoT) only less, haunted or so. The music was also amazing!

Funny story. While going through this temple, the last battery I activated was the one that was, like, right next to the elevator that takes you to the boss. They were pretty smart with designing this temple. While in the Fire temple, using ascend could skip portions of the temple (and to this day I'm not sure exactly how they wanted you to get to 3F without ascend), in the Lightning temple, if you use Ascend, you likely end up outside because the building is a staircase structure, so that doesn't help. One time I used ascend and ended up in the final boss room on 7f, but i wasn't able to skip the temple and start the boss because Riju wasn't with me. On my first playthrough, I did ascend from the basement when I reached the wall of fire because I wasn't sure I could actually get past, and that skipped the Room of Hopeful Light. I was confused about how to get in there. Only when I did my second playthrough did I realize I was supposed to hit a switch (I used Sidon to get past it, who I didn't have on my first playthrough). So that was the only time ascend ruined the dungeon for me

I love how they made the temple dark and atmospheric because it fits to the environment and not just dark because it is intended to be dark like they often do in family friendly media. There was a TV show in German kids TV like 10-12 years ago targeted to teens about a group of teenagers saving the world from gangsters that want to set a deadly virus into the world. It is still one of my favorite shows ever but it felt like they showed a dead body just because they can show it. Or they made a tower explode just because they can. It felt like they just tried to make it as dark and edgy as possible. Same with the shadow temple in Ocarina of Time or Arbiter's Grounds in Twilight Princess. They felt like they were designed to be dark. This lightning temple however felt like it was designed to be a Egyptian pyramid. And the tone were just because of the art. I love it!
