Lightroom Classic 12.3 - Incredible New Noise Reduction

Great to see adobe finally taking NR seriously. Having said that I compared the outcome of this LR denoise against the latest version of DXO Photo Lab/DXO Pure raw using the PRIME XD noise reduction offered by that package and on a range of images the DXO PRIME XD noise reduction was superior - this is especially noticeable where there is any part of the image with a natural texture such as skin, feathers, fur, brick, fabric - the DXO PRIME XD noise reduction manages to retain more fine detail while still squashing the noise. Another benefit of the DXO option is that it does not generate a bloated copy of the raw as the Lightroom version does (due to it using the 'enhance' processing engine). Just my experience, YMMV of course.

On my Mac Studio Max, both Lightroom AI Noise Reduction and PureRAW took almost exactly the same time. Just over a minute for three Fuji X-T3 images.

This seems to deal with the fuji xtrans issue too which has always been a problem with Lightroom. It specifically refers to this type in the tool as well. It certainly seems to on first comparison with raf file.

3 mins for an Eos M6 raw at 800 iso on a Core i7 with 16gb RAM. I’m very impressed however and it’s much better than DXO imo. 👍

Yeah, I agree - results are much cleaner and more natural/filmic looking.

A comparison with DXO-Photolab where you can control the level of noise reduction and sharpening would be good?
