My husband must have been in Sicily and Taormina in the same year this video was shot. He taught English as an EFL teacher for a year after university in 1973 ( ?) based in Gela ( and Ragusa ) but had received an introduction to Daphne Phelps who owned Casa Cuseni in Taormina from a friend from home who had known her when she was a senior psychologist in Sussex ! A year after our wedding ( when my husband had inherited a bit of money ) we had a holiday in Sicily ( disastrous holiday actually, not helped by the cold and wet weather ! ) and we visited Daphne at Casa Cuseni but other than the beauty of the house the only 2 thinks I remember are a man staying there who showed me the mark stamped on his arm as he was a concentration camp survivor and her relating the story of nearly having her house wrecked when she inadvertently offered accommodation to Caitlin Thomas ( Dylan Thomas - the poet’s - widow ) who was herself an alcoholic , and her young Italian lover !
