I've put Electrocute on Charged Staff and its pretty insane. It's another way to help sustain power charges via Combat Frenzy, and anything moderately thick just gets permanently stuck between Freeze, Electrocute, and Heavy Stun

another option is to go full freeze monk with ice strike instead of those lightning spells and call of the brotherhood. You inflict so much more freeze buildup that all rares and below are frozen in a single hit, and uniques get frozen half way during their first attack and you can build up another freeze during their second attack. So nothing gets a chance to play

Just tested and you can apparently use more than one tempest bell skill gem and place as many as you want. Has 2 open sockets on my lvl 75 monk so just gained 2 more bells

@@BreamBrain Just typical POE things. You'll note there's no base damage anywhere on the passive tree. It's just % increases and such. This directly correlates to how important flat damage from gear is. It's not explained, but once you make the connection, it's pretty obvious. Just gotta have that "aha!" moment.

I appreciate the build, my lightning monk was starting to fall off around the end of act 2 start of act 3 and the big thing that helped me get it off the ground besides the skill tree was shattering palm. If you can’t easily freeze without it, there’s no reason not to take it as you probably won’t have enough spirit for herald of thunder + wind dancer yet anyway

It shouldnt. Bell + tempest flurry + charged blade will melt any boss in game. There is a unique glove that electrocutes when lightning hits. Amazing against bosses and mobs. Ive been stunlocking bosses and killing them in 30 seconds with that. I actually carried a level 20 upgraded weapon upto level 44.

Playing the game SSF style except using the currency exchange. I specced "protect me from harm" from the get go and the defense is nice for having chill progression through the game. Still destroying everything in maps as an ice monk. Easy progressing through t8 maps now with capped res , 70+ phys mitigation, 80% evasion, winddancer linked to maim and blind, and shrouds and with all that defense is amazing for most mobs in rare maps. Still die to chaos damage even with 41% res to that by one shots because that's super overtuned.

He is going for the 3 elements buff on the tree and also the bell. So I think ele staff is the best for that, if not for that you'd have to get your +fire +lightning from Rings and Gloves alone. They stack to nearly 200%+ dmg together. (Look at the 3 ele nodes above the starting area)

Get some phys leeched as mana, take the mana regen wheel near the early passive tree fork, have a bigger mana pool. Mana is tricky right now, don’t just push the skill level up, the costs get insane later

Can you explain why you would keep the freeze/cold ascendency nodes over the lightning nodes, aren't all your abilities lightning based? newer poe player here, but wouldnt the lightning nodes scale your lightning damage?

There's no real difference between adding cold or lightning damage extra outside of resistances, and the ability to work with freeze on top of electrocute and stun makes it easier to both do bosses and survive. Not even sure if shocked ground works in conjunction with the applied shock.

It is specifically for Resonance + Combat Frenzy to generate power charges to fuel Charged Staff whenever you freeze an enemy. The freeze is also just nice, free burst window. You cannot electrocute unless you support a skill with it, and it makes that skill deal 40% less damage. Works fine on charged staff, I'd not put it on anything else.

​@@1brianyaffayou don't convert everything to lightning. Flat damage on your staff will contribute to that skill's damage type, you can see it if you expand the tooltip. You still also deal physical damage, just very minimal amounts after conversion + all the elemental damage nodes.

I have a 30edps less weapon then him with 112% increased ele, same tree (like point for point at level 90), crit bonus and +2 to gems on gloves/ammy. 20-30 cold roll on rings. So im missing as far as I can tell, 3 ele rolls on my rings and 15% attack speed on gloves and he has 2.5x my damage. The math is not mathing. I should also mention, my storm wave is a 4 link with the 4th being the 25% ele damage. 31k dps sheet. His is 50k. Literally whut the fuck.

I love my monk but he dies all the time. Even with 1700 life 800 es, capped res, 35% chaos res he dies to explosions and shit in milliseconds. Also I find tempest flurry attacks over enemies not hitting them and I get swarmed real quick (mnk). Both these probably skill issues and I got to not get hit but it’s really hard I find. Still great fun but feel frustrated bricking so many maps so often to one shot deaths.

Tbh monk pays off right from the start. I have played monk, warrior and merc hc. Monk is definitely the strongest right out of the gate, so much so that I would say you have to play warrior with a staff. Merc on crossbow at the start is absolute ass. It clears like trash, it bosses like trash. Only when you get explosive shot can you start to clear somewhat decently. And only when you get emergency reload can you start to kill bosses somewhat okayish.

@@gagepodrybau1720 With merc it's 100% getting a decent crossbow as early as possible. I wasn't really having any trouble at the start, but it was a bit slow. Then at like level 5 I had a random crossbow drop with %phys, flat phys, and +2 projectile skills and started just annihilating everything, including bosses. People need to remember that any build that uses attacks NEEDS to upgrade their weapons regularly, or you will fall off.

Take node on skill tree that for each 1 ES on helmet you get 2 evasion and think to convert to ES at the end to get more ES than HP, also you can over leech ur ES so u can double that amount while mapping

Is this real-time, or is he speeding this up? Is this his actual DPS? Cause it's cool to see, but it also takes the fun out of it for someone to discovering the game. And that is not on the content creator. He is a player himself and showing off his success, got no problem with that. It just feels like GGG has left us with so few viable builds to get through the early stuff, that the only way to do it is to follow guides that tell you to buy x, get y, do z...and so on. Again, not criticizing, I like that there are options for different players, but as someone who likes to discover, I don't like doing that, and GGG has done so many little things, around a game I think is overall AMAZING, that make it so exhausting to discover for the average player. Maybe on bosses, but for clear I think that would be worse. You can only mark one target at a time and then you have to crit them to gain the charge, whereas automating with Combat Frenzy you can generate multiple charges at once by hitting multiple mobs.

hmmm no. Frostwall + lightning arrow was carrying 6 man boss fights, would instakill everything. PoE1 also had lots of broken shit. The difference is that back then we were all young and stupid, but now we have 10+ years of PoE experience and understand the developers very well. Yes it is a new game but the way everything is worded and the way damage/defences scale is very similar PoE 1.0 bosses seemed unkillable because we were dumb, not because they were unkillable. It just took several months for players to break the game compared to 2 days it took for PoE 2

My Lightning Monk is melting everything in Cruel, like bosses only less than 30 seconds to fight (My tempest flurry is around 4k to 5k dps cause I bought a level 40+ weap with 150 phys dps), Bell + Charged Staff + Tempest Flurry and watch the hp melt. you need to run combat frenzy buff that gives you a frenzy charge when you freeze, electrocute or pin an enemy. Then you get the passive "Resonance" which makes its so the frenzy charges you gain from combat frenzy turn into power charges, which can be used to proc charged staff.

Initially you can do it with the palm skill that gives charges, after getting some more spirit you can use the ranger skill that gives frenzy charges on freeze and you take the node on the tree that changes frenzy to power charges, you need to have a decent amount of cold damage to do this (you can use the frost mark and it helps a lot).

interesting, I swapped to ice monk and it fell off a cliff. Even have call of the brotherhood so i can scale cold damage while using charged staff and it all scales together nicely. Just does no damage. The shatter pops with palm and Hoi are nice sometimes tho. Overall imo not a good build tho. Obviously can be overcome with just better gear but at a certain point thats not a real argument. Lightning Monk is the way to go, bit glass canon and not having freeze kinda sucks, clear is ok though lacking, but the bossing damage is just better, bell is great. Hoping it doesnt get nerfed cause GGG seems to be a bit heavy handed rn. Especially with the fact that its still extremely easy to just get oneshot.

You're doing something wrong if ice monk is zdps. I swapped from lightning to ice and lost no damage (clearin t15s) but have way more consistent freezes so it is much safer. For damage it is more or less the same. your damage comes from proc'ing bell as fast as possible, ice strike vs lightning flurry have very similar hit rates. Flurry does multi hit but ice strike hits slightly faster + has more AS on gem quality. So they both proc the bell at similar rates. Your dps should be the exact same. Only difference may be no shock but that's only 20% damage, and when the builds do 10m burst damage losing 20% of that is irrelevant Also on both builds you can use elemntal invocation + frozen orb or whatever it's called so instantly proc all bell hits as it hits so many times. Abusible on both builds to have identical single target damage. I don't like doing this as it's another button press and it's a bit inconsistent, but the option is there. So you've setup your gems wrong

I'm currently in T12, I have really good damage and can kill boss in my map in 15 seconds with full burst but it's nowhere close from this DPS, I have a 350 phys dps staff so it's not that bad and probably still good for later map, honestly even if it does way less damage I think I'm still gonna stick with ice monk because evasion + ES is really good for tanking and I can easily tank breach even when swarmed, the only way I die is by one shot from rare.

I have a 30edps less weapon then him with 112% increased ele, same tree (like point for point at level 90), crit bonus and +2 to gems on gloves/ammy. 20-30 cold roll on rings. So im missing as far as I can tell, 3 ele rolls on my rings and he has 2.5x my damage. The math is not mathing. I should also mention, my storm wave is a 4 link with the 4th being the 25% ele damage. 31k dps sheet. His is 50k. Literally whut the fuck.

Compared to other builds... Yea. This build definitely does WAY more damage for the same amount of investment. I think only maybe double shock magnitude stacking archmage stormweaver comes close and that is wayyyyyy more of a pain in the ass to both play and gear for than a monk

No it's not lol. His build is terrible for pushing T16 juiced maps since pretty much any magic or rare mob oneshots him. It's good for bosses as long as you don't get any mechanics, but way too squishy to push high tier maps without constantly dying.

The one shot design of bosses are great for campain, as you can do over and over to learn. In maps, idk. It rewards for making builds that don't interact at all. One way I think it could "solve" is to allow retries of some of those, but at no reward after the first death.
