This is a beautiful song, from my favourite album of 2012. Why do some people rail against beautiful music? Let this album into your life and take it over for a while.

But this sort of music isn't the type to 'take risks' with... It's a genre of music that is timeless and admired for its simplicity and beautifully melodic sheen. If I want more angular and 'out there' pop I'll go listen to it, but there's something to be said for music that just simply grabs you and wraps its sound around you when you need it... No one ever said Teenage Fanclub (or this) was breaking new ground. Have you ever listened to any Big Star records..? Same sort of thing.

I was throughly shocked that the pretentious assholes at Pitchfork actually gave this a 7.5, although it's a fucking 9.5 in my book. Of course, they had to take a knock at Teenage Fanclub by saying that they only reasons they're still relevant is because of Pains of Being Pure At Heart and Yuck, giving them a boost in interest. I'd like to remind you folks that this is the site that rails agains Nada Surf, one of the best power-pop bands in the last 15 years, every time they release an album.

I agree that Teenage Fanclub haven't had a really great album of the last so many years. I happen to think since 2000 with Howdy! but how many bands can say they had 5 consecutive albums which are just really gr8 records. Not to mention a brilliant cover band and blessed with amazing singles and B-Side songs, not 2 many bands! i. Bandwagonesque (1991) ii. Thirteen (1993) Okay the Press badly hated that one!! iii. Grand Prix (1995) iv. Songs from Northern Britain (1997) v. Howdy! (2000)

Well obviously those Big Star records are pure excellence. But I'd easily argue back though that Teenage Fanclub's first 2 or 3 albums had 'rockier' tunes that were brilliantly written as well. Do you think Big Star would have been writing the same sort of 'rocking' material 25 years on in their careers after their first 2 landmark albums...? No, they wouldn't be... Never mind, you're not understanding my many different (above) points anyways... Another pointless KZbin conversation.

Uh.. this isn't TFC... is is Gerry's side project and pretty good. Anyways, I disagree with on the TFC thing..they have some AMAZING songwriting...try listening to them rather than getting so critical. I came to them late un the day and love them!

please give songwriters some respect with their artistic decisions, that "risk" and comparison comments are prove that some people treat musicians an entertainer for their (i'm pretty sure) boring life.

TFC have been atrocious since their last great album "Songs From Northern Britain". They're one of the laziest bands in the UK. An album every four years, consisting of four songs each. You should be able to write a decent tune if you have one full year to do it !
@davebest200112 жыл бұрын
Still doesn't take away from the fact that this is rubbish. The same chords and sound as TFC. Supemarket music. Twee. Repetitive
