In terms of the kit modifications you mentioned at the end of the video I'd say ditch the pot as you can use the canteen cup as a pot and get a single walled regular metal cup to drink from should you want and have the previsions to have a brew with your food. I'd also get the stove that goes with the canteen set as it's a wood stove and takes up not more space than the canteen & canteen cup combo. When it comes to using the canteen cup as a pot, put some aluminum foil in your kit as you can use it to make a wind shield for a fire that'll reflect heat back to you but you can also use it to make a lid for the canteen cup and if your concerned about leaving a mess from the fire as you mentioned in the video you can also put it under the canteen stove.

Hey there sorry for the late reply, you comment ended up in the held for review section for some reason 😕 Great suggestions regarding the kit. I would like to avoid use of fire for this kit. Being a stealth camp loadout I think the smell of smoke and the sight of fire In the night would giveaway your position. Good shout on the canteen and single walled cup. Thanks for commenting. Take it easy.

👍👍👍 A good share, a nice looking satchel with some handy kit inside .. thanks. It is good to see the humble wooden match getting the exposure it deserves. My go-to with all else following. A 17 litre / 7-odd kg satchel slung over a shoulder? Personally, for me, a similar-sized day pack would carry better and have more versatility. I use satchels and auxiliary bags when needed .. smaller and lighter though .. alone or together with either a comprehensive belt rig or to supplement a day pack. My Savotta Jääkäri S Day Pack has a nice external 'Beaver Tail' attachment that accommodates a Satchel and which also allows said Satchel to be removed and put back with ease. That said, each to their own and whatever works for one, is good. Thanks for sharing .. take care ..

Thanks for stopping by and leaving an in-depth comment I appreciate your time. I think matches are an undervalued means of fire starting. Sure the bic lighter is water proof and all, but you don't get a free tooth pick with a bic haha. Thanks for watching. Take care

That's a nifty go-bag kit too. Not too dissimilar to my own; except I'm using a woobie paired with USGI poncho for an improvised sleeping bag, an Antarctic mat instead of an inflatable, and an Aquaquest Glide tarp for additional rain cover.
@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors
@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Hey there thanks for taking the time to comment. That sound like a great kit you have there. I did throw in a DD superlite 3x3 tarp too, but it was a little bulky visually and I didn't want to eliminate the versatility of the poncho so I emitted the tarp. My thoughts were if it started a down pour I would be pretty much wearing the shelter untill the weather eased anyway. I little more cover would be nice, but not at the cost of bulk. Thanks for stopping by. Take it easy.

Since you are talking “Lightweight “, that satchel is 16.96 ounces or 1796 grams at 16.8 liters. There are backpacks out there that hold 30 liters and weigh 275 grams. Your stumbling out of the gate when picking that satchel before adding anything , but still referring to it as lightweight. It has taken our Bushcraft community a decade to switch from the Bahco saw to the Silky. Is going to take you a decade to switch to lighter carrying components as well? Small does not necessarily mean lightweight. And you have proven that here.
@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors
@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors Жыл бұрын
The kit is multi faceted. It's doesn't focus on weight alone, but the ability to get out and complete a "lightweight" stealth camp. With out individuals knowing your intentions, by carrying a traditional ruck sack. Regarding the lightweight aspect of the kit I could have built the kit using extremely expensive titanium equipment and Cuban fibre tarps, but unfortunately not everyone can afford these items, so I built the kit with accessibility for everyone.

@@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors I understand. Most can’t , clicks count on KZbin. But KZbin is swamped with : common man, budget, dollar tree Walmart surplus items. I guess it is up to me to go a different route and start posting. I will definitely be in the minority, but being different isn’t always bad. I appreciate you posting. I understand the time it takes to edit and all that is involved. It is appreciated sir. 👍🙏🤩

@@ulbushcrafting6592 I do actually try to avoid the budget gear myself to be fair I only have very few military surplus items myself the rest of my gear is silly expensive 😭 Not everyone likes channel showing expensive gear. It's unfortunate, but like you say the budget options are very popular. Buy cheap buy twice. Take it easy buddy.
