Plastering - My House Build Pt14

A lot of time has passed since my last house video so here is what we were up to lately. First idea was to put drywall on all the masonry surfaces by myself but as spring came and construction season approached, I couldn't spare so much time for this big part of the build so I hired professionals. Also, my thought processes was if I'm hiring someone, quality should be a priority so I chose plastering over the drywall. Now when it's done, I couldn't be happier with the result. I could never achieve this level of flat surfaces and in just 8 work days. We used gypsum- lime- cement plaster. As an electrician, it's hard to say this. The plaster guy needs a raise, his work is perfect. It seems like the surface won't need much attention after he's done with it. Can't wait for another video, this series keeps me motivated.

Wow, what a mammoth and fantastic job. Looks great. In New Zealand we had on Sunday night TV current Affairs program that was on how much plastic is used in the building industry. So convenient yet so harmful to the environment. More recently they have been taking steps to recycle more the product but it is still a huge issue. Thanks for the video. Cheers, David

Looks really nice! I'm also quite amazed to see almost no vertical guides on the walls. In the part of the world I live in they usually set vertical guides (aluminium T profile) roughly every 1.5 meters with lasers and then scrape up and down. When plaster starts to set they rip this profile from the wall and fill the groove.

It's no wonder that plasterers are amongst the most expensive contractors in any building project. Good move to wrap in plastic - it took days to fix the splashes my plasterers left behind, fortunately we don't have a lot of exposed wood. Lovely bit of Bach. Once he establishes the theme, the rest of the piece just rolls out with an inevitability that always so satisfying. You (i do, anyway) feel that the music could not have come out any differently.

Looks great! I can see why you chose that route. I was wondering though....if you are going to paint shouldn't you have left the plastic up if you wanted to spray the paint on? Or maybe you are going to roll the paint on.

This house is progressing splendidly! Will there be an even finer layer applied to this coat of plaster before the walls are painted? I can't wait to see you get the all flooring completed, and the paint jobs done, that'll be the final point where everything just gels and all the hard work will have been worth it!

Hey, sorry for not replying for so long .. New project is taking almost all of my time.. Yes , this was a big milestone but I wasn't in the house for a week, I hope it dries nicely:) I'm not sure as for the finish, I'l try to sand it just slightly and try to apply the pain. If I won't be satisfied, I'l use plaster and then the paint.

👍🏻very nice , my brother who is a painter will often put multiple pcs of tape on his shirt as he is hanging plastic to drop off sections for protection.I'm thinking perhaps there will be some wood walls involved?

Nice to see things have warmed up enough for work to continue again. I noticed that it looked like no plaster went on the wall that the stairs are attached to (on either side) - is that because they're getting a different finish our are they good enough too just paint as they are?

Yes, finally some progress! The big wall will be covered in different finish. One side steel, other side wooden slats. Each side wil deserve a video of its own😁

Spectacular. Is the media dry in the hopper and water added just-in-time at the nozzle?? That is a real time saver using pros. Excelllent video, thanks for sharing

The water is added in a machine close to the tank, where it's mixed and pumped.

It's mixed in the machine, air is added close to the nozzle to make it fly out.

Primjetio sam da niste stavljali u prizemlju unutra podove ljepenku tj hidroizolaciju. Jeli postoji poseban razlog za izostanak toga ili? Mozda ste koristili vodonepropusni beton za betoniranje nadzemeljne ploce?

now the hardest and the longest part. Furnishing the rooms. I started 5 years ago and stil am not finished but we are liwing in the house for 4 years now. Design phase for few parts of furniture is so damn dificult and i want to make it look so nice i am wasting my time designing.
