This is the first time I heard A. Begg preached about Jesus' resurrection and the resurrection of the body. Praise God for his humour and wisdom. I am encouraged from the message for now I know more about the Lord. Thank you. Watching from Victoria, BC, Canada.

There is so much truth in this. As we buried my dad in an old country cemetery in NW PA, my cousin played Amazing Grace on the bagpipes. It echoed down the valley and there was such a profound mix of joy and lament at the same time as we knew dad was heaven bound and no longer in pain from his cancer, but that our daddy was gone from the earth. It’s been 11 years and still brings tears to my eyes when I remember that day.

Superb. I am so thankful to the Lord for the gifts He has given to us. The Truth of the Scriptures, the faithfulness of Godly Pastors and the ministry of the Holy Spirit speak to our hearts and conform us to the image of His dear Son. Praise the Lord for HIs kindness and mercy. Praise the Lord for an eternal home with Him.

We must hold this blessed WORD dearly.... The day is here that this WORD is now counterfeited into a slippery New Age Divination passed off as the Gospel.... It's time to read the WORD daily with our little ones and our big ones...

Traditional funerals have become so expensive, out of the reach of the poor really. I asked for cremation to make the expense more bearable for my family. I believe God can resurrect my body regardless of the condition, whether burned, eaten by sharks, or natural deterioration to dust.

The christian church should seek to make this more affordable. The some Amish and some other Mennonite groups don't embalm and are berried in a pine casket in a church cementer. Keeps the costs low.

Stop looking towards death. Instead view the life from the Overcomer in all situations "WE ARE more than conquerors through Jesus who loved us and gave himself.....a ransom for many!" NOW he sits at the right hand ruling, reigning.
Gorgeous sermon. I hate how superficial we have become

Our Christian Protestant funerals are not lacking sorrow and tears but also they like to see memories left behind by the deceased and feel the peace and assurance that we will see the dead again because the knowledge of his or her salvation is assured. I lost my husband three years ago, I still cry for his loss and with our sons and relatives and friends when we gather, we remember the life experiences we had with him and the.peace to know he died in the faith and we will see him again. Our funerals are for sharing sadness and joys , we are a believing in the gospel family his funeral was beautiful, so your assessment of the today’s funerals gives me concern about your criticism.

Alistair isn't the only one doing a lot of waggling as the screen does a distracting waggle of its own. My daily evening prayer, as the late Rev.Graham Miller's autobiography, is a gratefully breathed 'a day's march nearer Home'.. As for cremation, the murderers of Tynedale, Latimer, Cramner, Rogers, Bradford and the hundreds of martyrs burned at the stake for their faith, knew full well the effect of the Biblical perspective of fire.

Capitalism aside, do you feel like God has a specific plan for us to realize here? Like getting back to the practices of cremation, as many places in the world still practice? A realm man cannot touch? That is, the soul has gone to God, we should save our $$. We know God is in control & the miracle of His grace will resurrect & restore to new His faithful children. An unimaginably awesome miracle it will be. Or am I nuts? U can b honest😉)

My beloved Jamie expressed concern about being cremated as most LDS Latter Day Saint Mormon Christians get a full body burial, but I told her that I was being cremated as it was far cheaper and much more efficient and as she wanted to be buried next to me, she relented! I had already purchased a single plot for one (1) urn and so I then I purchased a double plot for two (2) urns for Jamie and I to wait until our Heavenly Father Jehovah God (Yahweh Elohim Allah) resurrects us both together to spend the rest of time together forever for all the eternities!

2 Cor 5:2 " For we know that when this tent we live in now is taken down, when we die and leave these bodies we will have a wonderful NEW BODY IN HEAVAN that will be ours forevermore" ( 2 Cor 5:2. 'The Living Bible'). 'tent' greek kenos = a temporary dwelling place. 'taken down' Greek KATALUO= to destroy utterly ( ie; the temple that was never rebuit! Luke 21:6). This shows clarl that our imperfect human body perishes forever at death. In the resurrection one will be given a NEW SPIRITUAL BODY. ( see 1 Cor 15: 40-42)

You’re correct in not completely agreeing. This sermon really missed the mark. When he started criticising the funeral processions it really showed his lack of maturity in how grief is not linear and the process is completely different at different times for everyone! For some it takes time to hit, some need to recall on the love and good memories, some use humour and others are in shock or grief stricken it is all different and people will cycle through different emotions at different times however they need to process! I found this sermon extremely insensitive. My mother took such care to dress her dead mother, put a little makeup on her and brushed her hair to put in the open coffin. And for this pastor to vilify and criticise these processions is so insensitive and horrible. No heart and no compassion. It’s likely he is preaching from his own unprocessed grief and cynicism. Underlying hostility and immature criticism. Sharing good memories and preparing their loved ones deceased bodies neatly and cleanly doesn’t mean one isn’t sincere and grieving. It’s honouring the deceased ones. Jesus own body was prepped and buried properly with respect and honor Matthew 27:59 59 And Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud, 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn in the rock; John 19:39 Nicodemus also, who had at first come to him by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds’ weight. 40 They took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. And his dead body was placed in a new tomb with respect. The preacher needs to rethink his views on funerals and have some compassion on how people grieve differently and at different paces.

It's actually quite simple. Flesh and blood will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Our spirits will be clothed with a new and glorified body. During the time of Nero many, many Christians had been burned completely up by being used as torches to light up the streets at night. They are now glorified with Christ and will soon be clothed with a glorified body, not even capable of sin.

@joewright98795 жыл бұрын
eetadakimasu there may be some in the congregation making that error. If so, it is nothing new. 1Corinthians 1:12, and following. I am not here to defend Alistair Begg, but I have heard him repeatedly warn against following him or any other man, but to trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone. As to the laughter and applause, I understand your concern having been raised in a very conservative Presbyterian church. I am not offended by this as long as the word of God is strictly followed. In every sermon I have heard him give, Alistair Begg always returns immediately to the sobering truth of Jesus of Nazareth teaching, scourged, crucified, resurrected and reigning at the right hand of God the Father. In His love and peace, Joe Wright
