I think a lot about Kuze when I hear this song. Shishido has a lot in common with him; they both started from nothing and took a beating in order to rise in the ranks of the Yakuza and are known for being fierce fighters. They enjoy combat (Kuze was a boxer, Shishido picked fights and fought at the Castle), and they both endure in a way that most LAD antagonists don't. However, there's a big difference between them: Shishido has fully bought into the mythos of the yakuza as an entity, while Kuze sees past it and admits to Kiryu that he doesn't really care about all the traditions and codes that come with living in that world. Kuze is a survivor just like Shishido, but he doesn't dress up his ambitions in lofty ideals like the latter does when he talks about "saving" the yakuza. Shishido is power hungry in a way that Kuze just isn't. I think Kuze shows Kiryu what it takes to enter the world of the yakuza, and Kiryu in turn shows Shishido that the world he wants never existed and won't ever exist. Each character bookends a time of huge change in Kiryu's life and I think the parallels between them are really interesting.

Even after playing and beating 8 (it's solid) this is still easily my favorite fight in the whole series

Amazing final fight between a man who has lost everything and a man with everything to lose. Beyond epic.

in another perspective, shishido was right. he's just trying to protect his dream, what's left to prove his worth. Kiryu kinda go against what hamazaki told him in yakuza 4, while shishido, who's the final boss, is actually trying to conserve tojo clan and omi

Gaiden is basically RGG apologizing to us the fans for the lackluster ending that 6 provided. Tell me any developer who ever did that!

There's just something about the part that starts at 7:26 that just oozes determination. Like, I was recently working-out to this song while hitting the heavy bag and it just filled me with energy even though I was tiring out. It really does feel like Shishido giving it all that he's got on his last stand, having nothing else to lose, I love it.

Aizawa but better
@verynaisu10 ай бұрын
Aizawa and Shishido are two different characters, though, lol. Aizawa wasn't someone who had nothing. He was stripped of his dream and given something close to it without the work. He didn't even know why he was given everything and could have cared less if it wasn't earned from his own ambition. Shishido was a kid who had nothing for him. A kid who was tortured by Nishitani and knew nothing but fighting for survival. The Yakuza was the only thing familiar to him and his only saving grace and living. He was a person scared of losing what he believed was the only way he could live. The only similarity they share is "ally turns out to be final boss who wants to reach to the top" and that's really it

@@verynaisu I know it was just a sarcastic simplified comment, the way both characters dreams are crushed through the sequences where they get kicked out of Tojo/Omi alliance HQ is something similar and both for a dream they sought through their own hardships

@@JahanPinkman those bossfights were good to but in my opinion Shibasawa from Zero and this one were the best. Kuwana is my favorite villain though.
