Trinidadian living in Japan here. It would be a good idea to allow captions on soca videos so we can add subtitles. I’m exposing my students to soca music (yes, I play this video in high school classes), and the students really enjoy the music, but they can enjoy it so much more if they understood the lyrics. Trinidadian to standard English needs subtitles anyway, and from there, some enterprising person can translate to Japanese. There are a lot of Trinidadians who have lived in Japan and know Japanese. Not to mention there are Japanese people who love Trinidad culture too. P.S.: I show this video and Kes’s Savanah Grass because there are no people overly exposing their bodies and also wining crazy. I teach teenagers so I appreciate videos like these. Please make more kid friendly music videos, Mr. Montano. Thank you.

Some people nowadays change their minds about songs so quickly. The thing is music is not only universal but it’s forever. If the song was good in 2015 what is different now. The reason why people like music primarily has to do with the rhythm and the arrangement. The longevity of the song is based on this premise. When the beat drop you gonna love it. If you loved it then and nothing has changed you still gonna love it 9 years later. If the lyrics are also good then the song becomes transcendent. No matter when you hear it it will take you back to the first time you heard it and the whatever party, club or hangout you were at will make you love it even more. That’s the reason music moves people, changes people, illicit’s emotions and affects people positively or in some cases negatively. Even in the cases it illicit’s a negative emotion? The same song. A take you back to a bad time and help you to move forward. That is the power of music and why it’s a necessary thing. This song’s beat, arrangement and lyrics are great so yes I don’t know of anyone who has a musical bone in their body that will say they no longer like this song. No matter what was done machelmontanomusic would be contradicted but the reality is there is no greater performer out of T&T than the man. If people actually listen to the construction of the song the band element was always there so the video concept makes absolute sense. I may not be his biggest fan but lets be real here some of you hating on the man because he is biggest entertainer in the arena and people always hope for an underdog to topple the giant.
