I must say, I have toyed around with this idea. had a blast designing an ICBM which launched from the other side of the planet in a high ap sub orbital path, just to drop a drone with jdams and clusterbombs on to destroy air defenses I set up around ksc. recommend it for a future vid!

Ik contained the smallest drone code available, and the guidance was manual try and error I also played around with hypersonic boost-glide vehicles but haven't found a reliable working design yet. Also tried using the nuclear air2air missile as a nuclear warhead and had a blast with it

Basic control was achieved with regular rocketengines and RCS.

I feel like the use case for this would probably be multiple targets and (relatively) low collateral damage with a high altitude strategic bomber being able to do tactical strikes and such

The missile pod reminds me of a neat missile that can be used by A/C-130's with a special launcher that is attached to the ramp, it's called the AGM-176 Griffin, and it was used in some conflicts. ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGM-176_Griffin )

.....you didn't use the Gau8 so not the most kerbal thing ever.....now a gua8 with a command chair on it so a kerbal can fire it on the way down then jump and parachut in......now that's Premium Kerbal.

Sadly they don't make a GAU-8 turret. I suppose there are the goalkeepers, but that's not really small-parachute-pod material

@@SonofSmith I made a gau8 powered saetlight once, used thebGau8 instead of a rocket engine.....it went straight up fine but spun out ehike ytying to turn

What if, say, you just put the downard facing weapons on the plane? without the extra mass of the deployment system, you could probably have way more guns.

Toyed a bit with the idea before encountering this video, came up with a ground-deployed (in a totally inconspicous 5 meter shell) parachute turret with 8 AIR-2 nuclear missiles. Gonna try and make a bomber for this one
