I'm probably biased, but hear me out - most new TV shows don't make it, don't they? Saved By The Bell survived as original content primarily on the strength of Mark-Paul Gosselaar's charisma. I feel like without the branding and series boost, this kid wouldn't carry this show into being an international young adult classic.

As an 80s child and 90s teen this show was a big part of my childhood and I tried to watch the new version but it is awful. The acting is bad. The messaging is bad. The opening theme is atrocious. They can't capture the magic of the original and I don't understand why people like this.

Even the original cast have lost their touch as they got older, now they seem like amateurs when it comes to assuming the roles of their older characters shame since they are the most solid here but unfortunately doesn't cut the mustard they were so much better at it when they were playing high school kids instead of adults who are trying to juggle their career with life etc but also a lot of this is down to poor writing and direction

The funny this is the way is written it looks like the whole cast is talking like a robot, does not seem natrual. The whole new show sucks. Where did the find this writter? The new show is not even funny at all, they put swear words, the timeout a girl saying it, does not even resemble the same. I feel sorry for the original cast. What this actually shows is just how good the teen actors of the original "Saved By The Bell" were. They really understood the comedic beats of the show and were fantastic at staying present in the scene (especially Mark-Paul Gosselaar). Little moments like him starting to laugh at Mr. Belding's hair before Slater says his line (giving the appearance that Slater is pulling his focus when, in reality, he already knew Slater's line was coming) just makes the scene appear more real. That naturalistic quality (and comedic timing) is really hard to find in actors that young. The current teen cast are more typical of teen actors, a bit theatrical and possibly a tad over-rehearsed.
