As a recovering addict, listening to Oxy Cotton was not why I took opiates. I took opiates for the euphoria then be able to function. I was doing that shit before the song came out. Hell I was already a ways into addiction by then. I listened to the song cause it related to who I was at the time. It also slammed hard af with my stereo system. I have 7-1/2yrs of sobriety and I still have Oxy Cotton on one of my regular playlists. I listened to Kottonmouth Kings or to Lil Jon and neither of them made me smoke weed or drink. I was going to to smoke/drink/pills regardless and just enjoyed listening to them while I was getting my high. Now I still enjoy listening to them without getting that high. A song or artist is not to blame, it’s who the person is. Listening to Jelly Roll doesn’t give me anxiety or depression, it’s who I am or not. Listening to 50 cent doesn’t make me a gangsta, it’s who I am or not. Lil Wyte doesn’t make me an addict, it’s who I am or not.

God bless all of you who are still alive 🙏. There's only two people out of over 60 I know who were using opiates back in the early 2000s. Remember more people died from opiate overdose just last year than in the Iraq Afghanistan and Vietnam wars combined. Real s*** and almost nobody talks about it and almost very few people admit how bad it is and almost everybody downplays what people have been through especially those that have gotten themselves out. I spent two years on oxycodone legally prescribed spent 18 years after that on heroin and then 2 years on Fentanyl. I have almost 2 years clean now because of sublocade (which is a miracle drug that will get you off everything truly) but the two years of fentanyl were worse than all of the other s*** put together almost. I tried methadone and Suboxone and those helped but I never could get off those completely, Sublocade was a game changer with very little withdrawals at all coming off. God bless all of you and all the addicts in the struggle trying to get free🙏😎

I used to listen to this song all the time and wonder how the hell Lil Wyte could be on all this Oxy and Xanax all day like I was and still tour, write and make albums. To now know he wasn’t ever really addicted or took the shit, it make’s perfect sense. I wish I would’ve known that back then. When you’re young and impressionable you want to be like your favorite artists. Of course I don’t blame ANYONE but myself for the 10 years of addiction and misery I went through but it is interesting to reflect on that time and the correlation of idolizing your favorite artists and mimicking what you believe is their lifestyle.

When I was 16 years old in 2001, I went with my family to visit my cousin a few hours away. I got there and were smoking weed, and chilling. And he's like hey man I got these pills, there worth a lot of money can you sell em, I'll let you keep half of what they're worth, something along the lines of that. I don't remember how much my cut was. Anyway, he pulls out these big blue pills, and he's like these are Oxycontin 160 mgs. Most people don't even know 160s even existed, let alone ever seen one. (I had no idea how rare these pills were at the time) They banned them literally like a year later. Anyway, I got these they're called Oxycontin, I had heard of them on the news. He's like they're worth $60 a piece. I'm like holy shit. He's like you gotta be very careful never take a whole one ever. You gotta take the coating off and sniff a really small line. Anyway I'm like alright I'll go and sell them where I live. He gave me 18 of them. Him and his friends had broke into some old lady's house that had died and got them. Or so that's what he told me. Anyway I took them home, and I met up with my other cousin that night and we drove to meet some friends that night. On the way driving he's like let's try some. We did a little tiny line, like maybe a 1/12th of the whole pill between us. And man we got so high. We showed up to my friends house, and we gave everybody a little try. Man long story short that whole summer of 2001 we stayed high on Oxy. 😂. I didn't sell none do that shit, I think I sold 2 or 3 of em. The rest we just balled out and had an amazing summer. Doing Oxy and eating Mushrooms. (I lived in a small cow town in Florida), so shrooms were everywhere. My cousin called the one who gave them to me months later and was like do you got some money? I said yea I got some. I don't remember how much I gave him, I wanna say around $100-150 dollars. Lol totally way less than what they were worth, he gave me about a $1000 worth of shit. He's man I wouldn't even have come if I had known you only had this much money. He was disappointed but wasn't even really mad at me. Anyway, I still think about that time every now and then. Me and my cousin (the one I did them with) laugh about it. Just literally got a lap full of the most powerful painkillers on Earth for free. 160s, nobody has even seen them other than the ones I had. It took us months to consume those things they were so powerful. Crazy

I cant lie lol i love wyte and i grew up listening to him but i was 13 when oxycontin came out and i didn't even know what any of that stuff was but when i heard "percocet" in the song it clicked that i had said percocet in my cabinet from a sergury and i LOVED THE FEELING MORE THEN ANYTHINGGGG and it led me down a 10 year drug addiction. Im not blaming him but yes, that song was the reason i popped my first 4 percocets...

I for sure listened to the song while high on oxycontin but I found the song after I found oxy. It was legit my anthem when is started doing pills.

I can understand him… Imagine the amount of people yelling in the crowd for him to perform just this one song. I can remember in the KZbin early days, You could find a thousand of videos of a bunch of different people (even whole families) lypsincing the record

For the people who actually suffer from addiction and someone such as myself who just had a 3rd seizure from Xanax withdrawal don't try and associate with it if you ain't about it

Already knew all about this but I didn't know anything about his start and what he went through as far as his boys having somebody jump his mom. I'm glad he seems to be doing good and is mature and acts like a grown man compared to alot of other rappers his age that still act like teenagers.

I took two perc 15s, a morphine 10mg and a 5 mg Vicodin the first time I ever took pain pills in highschool. I was pale and sick for three days, couldn't eat or even drink water without throwing up. Like, an hour after I took it I was FLOATING through the school halls between classes and nodding out sleeping in them.
